If you are looking for a new position, when the Ace of Wands appears know that something new and very positive is likely to be headed your way soon.  Be bold and ask for what you want or need in the work/career arena.  You are likely to be more successful than you’d dream possible.  The appearance of this card is unusually the sign of a turn for the better in terms of fortune and wealth, and sometimes it can even indicate gifts of money, or inheritance from unexpected sources (but it certainly doesn’t mean that someone has to pass over for you to receive this inheritance).  This gift does not have to be money, of course; any kind of gift that has value to both the giver and receiver can be indicated by this Ace.

Unlike with the Sevens, there is no ambiguity with the Eights, no question of whether what you’re doing or choosing is the right thing.  With the Sevens, the person is often stubbornly holding to their course, praying it’s the right thing, but not sure.  With the Eights, there’s no such doubt.  The right course is clear.  Doing what needs to be done might not be easy, but what needs to be done is sure.  This means that reversed Eights are often about cowardice, weakness, unwillingness or uncertainty, as compared to the upright.  The Eight of Cups is also relatively easy.  This is the follow your dream card and upright, the person leaves what is comfortable and established to follow their dreams — however remote or improbable.  Reverse this and our dreamer walks away from is dreams to come home.  Worse, as the cups are inverted, home isn’t that comfortable.  This is that terrible card where a person who went out to make his own life surrenders that life to take care of his domineering parents.  It’s the husband who sells his dream business because the woman he married insists on it … and now he’s working at something he hates, living in a home where there is no love. A very, very sad and painful card.  Have you given up your dearest dream as being impossible and surrendered to a miserable reality?

Things are looking up!  Generally, people will respond to you with happiness, love and goodwill, more than usually in the near future.  You ought to be feeling good about life in general.  This is a great time to make friends.  You feel the need to “give back” some of the love (Aloha!) that you have been given in life/that you are experiencing.  This is also a connection to the divine … on a spiritual level, meditate on the idea that you are a beloved child of the Universe and feel the support that comes to you from “the other side”, as it is always there, all you have to do is look for it.

In the context of work,the King of Wands can indicate a man with hair on the lighter end of the spectrum who wants to serve as a mentor for you.  This is a man who you can trust and can count on, although to a degree his people skills can be a bit rough around the edges.  Learn what you can from him, but pay attention to the places where you wish to conduct yourself differently from the way he does things.  Overall, things should be going well work-wise and if you’re looking for employment, the King is a very positive significator that a position that you’d be pleased with is likely to be forthcoming soon.  You may discover a talent that you didn’t know you had which could lead to more money.  If you have ever thought about starting your own business, this can indicate that this is a very good time to start taking steps.  Not that you ought to leap headlong into something … if you’re not in that position yet, start where you are.  Read, research, talk to others doing what you think you’d like to do.  Don’t hesitate to dream big, however.  Boldness has power in it.

Nines signify earthly completion.  That is, the most you can accomplish in this world in this here and now — as compared to the Tens, which are more spiritual completion.  There’s a sense of accomplishment with the Nines, a sense of maturity to the suit and a feeling that something is coming to a conclusion.  Reverse the Nines, however, and that conclusion is either put on hold, reversed, or derailed.  The “wish” card is really about the completion of family and Earthly happiness.  It is a card about feasting with friends and family, the comforts of good food, good drink, love, friendship, cheer.  This is why it’s the “wish” card, because what more could anyone wish for?  Reverse it, however, and you are not going to get what you wish.  This is a card about a family (or friendship) falling apart; siblings, parents, friends and children are at best indifferent; at worst, they hate each other and want to cause each other misery and pain.  There is vindictiveness and cruelty.  Likely abuses, divorces, child custody cases and indulgences (alcoholism) and/or psychological problems.  This might also signal a family coming apart; a family once close, having family gatherings, but disintegrating with each new generation until it’s not really a family at all.

Aces always indicate new beginnings. Sometimes, this new beginning can be started by a separation of some kind — from a relationship, or a job situation. This is the most loving Queen in the tarot deck.  She indicates compassion, love and concern for ourselves and our fellow man.  Often when the court cards come up in a reading, they indicate an actual person, in this case a woman, in our lives. For the most part, when the Queen of Cups appears and is standing in for a person, she is representing a female with hair on the lighter end of the spectrum. This female energy is solidly in “your corner” and the women in your life are very supportive of you and/or that a woman will come to your aid.  This queen also reminds you to treat yourself with love and compassion. No matter who and where you are, there are things in you that are worthy of love and respect.  You are likely to be in touch with the inter-relatedness of all beings now.  The Queen of Cups can indicate marked increases in clairvoyant experiences.  Be open to the magical energy of life and feel the love flowing all around you.  A woman may be an important spiritual leader to you now.  Whether male or female yourself, consider feminine archetypes and energy now.  They will lead you into new and deeper spiritual understandings.

When the King of Wands appears reversed, it indicates that you r someone around you is having trouble with authenticity. It could be that you are having trouble knowing what you truly want, or who you want to be.  You could be doing things that don’t feel aligned with your authentic self. Someone else may seem like a phoney to you.  You may come across someone who is a real charmer, but does not follow up on his or her promises. You may be using authenticity as an excuse to do what you want.  You, or someone around you, may have an attitude that says, “I am who I am, and if you don’t like it, I don’t give a damn.” Though it is important to follow our inner light, doing so with lack of consideration may be ill advised.  This reversed King could also be a warning against risky behavior, such as gambling with your financial security or physical safety. Ask yourself if you could survive the worst-case outcome of the risk you’re taking. If not, a change of plans may be in order.
