We note that this particular Full Moon is preceded by a Double Yod Key that occupies most of the day. To be sure, this is another punctuation mark indicating that this is a period of decision-making, of “forks in the road.” (Image 1.)

The ongoing Jupiter / Neptune / Pluto yod is one part of the DYK, the other involves Moon / Mercury / Jupiter. Mercury square Pluto (harsh words, arguments, fights, and at least wounded feelings) is part of the picture. We are living in “interesting times.” (Image 2.)

Traditions & Art ~ Burning Man ~ Black Rock Desert, Nevada USA

2014 Burning Man celebration ~ Nevada USA
2014 Burning Man celebration ~ Nevada USA

Burning Man is a week-long annual event held in the Black Rock Desert in northern Nevada, in the United States. The event begins on the last Monday in August, and ends on the first Monday in September, which coincides with the American Labor Day holiday. It takes its name from the ritual burning of a large wooden effigy, which is set alight on Saturday evening. The event is described as an experiment in community, art, radical self-expression, and radical self-reliance.

One of the roots of the annual event now known as Burning Man began as a bonfire ritual on the summer solstice in 1986 when Larry Harvey, Jerry James, and a few friends met on Baker Beach in San Francisco[7] and burned a 9-foot (2.7-meter) wooden man as well as a smaller wooden dog. Harvey has described his inspiration for burning these effigies as a spontaneous act of “radical self-expression”.

Western Mysticism ~ Bill Donahue ~ SOLOMON AND 666

666 is the symbol of the carnal mind. The seat of all of the troubles of the human condition.

The Bible is mythology. The stories are not historical. That is why we look beyond the words for what they actually mean.

In Greek mythology, each letter has a number and each number has a meaning.

The Bible, both Old and New Testament used in the West was written in Greek.

Mythically the number 9 represents human consciousness.

When considering 666, we add 6+6+6=18 1+8=9
That is one way Biblical dark sayings are revealed.

By understanding 666 we then are able to open the meanings of other Bible stories as well.

In 1 Kings 10:14 King Solomon moved away from the temple through his actions and his lusts. He began to lose everything he had.

By understanding 666 as the lower mind we can now see the Solomon story as one that speaks to each one of us.

We go to 1 Kings Chapter 10 Verse 14
“Now the weight of the Gold that came to Solomon in one year was.
six hundred, 3 score, and 6 talents of Gold.

Let us break that down:
600 + 3 score (a score equals 20) so 3 score would be 60, and 6 Total 666

The cause of the downfall of Solomon was the lower mind. The lower mind that obsesses itself with the lust for the material side of life and wealth.

He had built the temple but then had become more involved in the gold and the structure and the things that started coming his way.

But we can forget Solomon, because it’s doubtful whether he ever existed.

The story is a lesson for all of us.

It is very easy to move away from the inner temple of meditation because of the things that distract us on the outside.

We always seem to get too busy to take the few minutes needed to stay connected to the higher.

And when we do that, 666 comes knocking on our door.

You don’t have to live in that inner temple. But you have to visit there often enough that it becomes your center of attention.

Daily Chabad ~ The Path of the Humble

owl talking

If we were truly humble, we would not be forever searching higher paths on the mountaintops. We would look in the simple places, in the practical things that need to be done.

True, all these places lie in a world of falsehood. With only a little more light, we would all realize that none of this is really necessary.

But the soul that knows its place knows that the great and lofty G‑d can most be found in the simple act of lending a hand or a comforting word in a world of falsehood and delusions.

Seeds for Meditation ~ On Life

consciousness of buddha

“Life is a great battlefield. Life is a conquest. To live is to fight for the ideal and the goal. Life is a series of awakenings. You must conquer your mind and the senses. These are the real enemies. You must conquer internal and external nature. You must conquer your environments, old evil habits, old evil Samskaras, evil thoughts and evil Vasanas. You must fight against the antagonistic dark forces. You must resist the forces of degeneration. The greatest victory is the victory over the turbulent mind. The greatest battle is the inner Adhyatmic battle. The greatest hero is one who has conquered the mind.”

Raw Hummus Recipe

  • 1 zucchini
  • 1 cup raw sesame seeds
  • 1 cup lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic

While we are at it, here is another awesome raw food salad recipe as a bonus for today.

Ingredient List for Yummy Raw Food Salad

  • Spinach or other nutrient dense leafy green
  • Red peppers, the more vibrant the color the better, a great source of vitamin C
  • Apples, adds fiber
  • Sprouts are a wonderful source of nutrition and enzymes.  You can also buy fresh sprouts at the store, if you don’t feel like sprouting your own
  • Pumpkin seeds,  are helpful against parasites, although they are by no means a complete solution. I like to do a parasite cleanse at least 4x year, just to be safe.
  • Dried Cranberries, be sure there is no added high fructose corn syrup
  • Goji Berries, Asian superfood of the great Goji warrior
  • Marinated artichoke hearts. I love to add these whenever I am at a salad bar.
  • Hemp seeds, good source of protein, healthy fats and fiber.

Salad Dressing Ingredients

  • Extra virgin olive oil, organic cold pressed
  • Raw Apple cider vinegar
  • Pure water
  • Liquid aminos

I like to add fresh or dried herbs to my salad dressing.  There is a bulk herb section at the health food store. They have small bottles of a bunch of different single herbs and spices as well as combos.  I like to look and smell, then bring home a new one to try every now and then.  A great way to familiarize myself with some new flavors.

Just For Today ~ Be Change

TO THE LIGHT Jose GonzalezBe proactive.  Look for solutions to the problems your community faces, rather than call on someone else to solve them.

For too long, too many of us have been entranced by heroes. Perhaps it’s our desire to not have to do the hard work, to rely on someone else to figure things out. But perhaps it’s time for us to face the truth of our situation — that we’re all in this together, that we all have a voice — and figure out how to mobilize the hearts and minds of everyone in our workplaces and communities.

Aloha Spirit ~ Love Is The Medicine

REIKI babyHealers, therapists, friends, and lovers!

When you sit with a friend in pain,
when their world no longer makes sense;
when confusion rages
and no rest is to be found.

Just for a moment,
will you resist the temptation
to make things better,
to reassure them,
to provide answers,
even to heal them?

Will you offer your stillness, your listening,
your presence, and the warmth
of your immediacy?

Will you hold them in your heart
with the same tenderness
of a mother holding her little one?

Will you embrace them where they are,
without needing them to change or transform
according to your own needs and schedule?

Will you stay close,
holding your own impatience and discomfort near?

Will you look into their eyes
and see yourself?

Will you stay in the inferno of healing with them,
trusting in disintegration,
knowing that you are only witnessing
the falling away of an old dream?

Sometimes in doing nothing
everything is undone,

and love is revealed to be
the only true medicine.

Seeds for Meditation ~ Consciousness

Indian sunset

“Breathing happens; sensations, feelings, and emotions come and go; thoughts pass through the mind; and stories about our experiences form, but the only continuous, unbroken, and always present thing is consciousness itself. Consciousness is that which, in us, is aware of all these changing phenomena. This is the nondual truth of existence.” ~ Jim Dreaver

Just For Today … Focus on Personal Connection

be present
Nurture kindness through personal connection.  Try to bring awareness to those moments of disconnectedness. Or, alternately, why not designate an hour of your day to go ‘hands free’ instead?

Years ago, we didn’t have to try so hard to stay connected. People lived in neighborhoods, and there weren’t many strangers that didn’t ultimately become friends. We watched over one another with relationships built upon a foundation of shared interdependence, ensuring plenty of kindness to go around. Sadly though, through our own scientific progress, we now live in an age of ‘connected disconnection.’ Even the most basic of needs are provided by faceless entities. But, at what cost?

“We are all so much together, but we are all dying of loneliness.”  — Albert Schweitzer

This is how nurturing kindness through personal connection looks … how ’bout it?

What Is Wrong With Our Culture? ~ Alan Watts

Why is it that we don’t seem to be able to adjust ourselves to the physical environment without destroying it? Why is it that in a way this culture represents in a unique fashion the law of diminishing returns? That our success is a failure.

That we are building up – in other words an enormous technological civilization which seems to promise the fulfillment of every wish almost at the touch of a button. And yet as in so many fairy tales when the wish is finally materialized, they are like fairy gold, they are not really material at all. In other words, so many of our products, our cars, our homes, our clothing, our food; It looks as if it were really the instant creation of pure thought; that is to say it’s thoroughly insubstantial, lacking in what the connoisseur of wine calls body.

And in so many other ways, the riches that we produce are ephemeral. And as the result of that we are frustrated, we are terribly frustrated. We feel that the only thing is to go on and getting more and more. And as a result of that the – the whole landscape begins to look like the nursery of a spoiled child who’s got too many toys and is bored with them and throws them away as fast as he gets them, plays with them for a few minutes.

Also we are dedicated to a tremendous war on the material – basic material dimensions of time and space. We want to obliterate their limitations. We want to get everything done as fast as possible. We want to convert the rhythms and the skills of work into cash, which indeed you can buy something with – but you can’t eat it.

And then rush home to get away from work and begin the real business of life, to enjoy ourselves. You know, for the vast majority of American families the – what seems to be the real point of life, what you rush home to get to is to watch an electronic reproduction of life. You can’t touch it, it doesn’t smell, and it has no taste.

You might think that people getting home to the real point of life in a robust material culture would go home to a colossal banquet or an orgy of love-making or a riot of music and dancing; But nothing of the kind.

It turns out to be this purely passive contemplation of a twittering screen. You see mile after mile of darkened houses with that little electronic screen flickering in the room. Everybody isolated, watching this thing. And thus in real – in no real communion with each other at all. And this isolation of people into a private world of their own is really the creation of a mindless crowd.

And so we don’t get with each other except for public expressions or getting rid of our hostility like football or prize-fighting. And even in the spectacles one sees on this television it’s perfectly proper to exhibit people slugging and slaying each other but oh dear no, not people loving each other, except in a rather restrained way.

One can only draw the conclusion that the assumption underlying this is that expressions of physical love are far more dangerous than expressions of physical hatred. And it seems to me that a culture that has that sort of assumption is basically crazy and devoted – unintentionally indeed but nevertheless in-fact devoted not to survival but to the actual destruction of life.

Daily Chabad ~ On Friction …

The Wise One by Chikrata http://goo.gl/JSRBif

Our souls are the finishing tools for His handiwork.

They are the plows He applies to the harsh earth so it will absorb the rains from heaven, the sandpaper to grind away the coarse surfaces of life, the polishing-cloth so that it will glimmer in the light from above.

That friction that wears us down, those sparks that fly—it is the resistance to this refining process.

And if you should ask, how could it be that G‑d’s own creation should present resistance to His infinitely powerful breath?

In truth, it cannot. But He condenses that breath into a soul, He tightly focuses her power, until the harshness of this world can seem real to her, and then she will struggle, and in that struggle she will make the world shine.

Recipe ~ Bahn Mi, Vietnamese Street Sandwiches with Pickled Veggies

bahn mi

Yield: 4 Sandwiches

Cook Time: 1 hour

Making good banh mi at home is quite easy, but can involve a bit of preparation. Simply put, you can make it as simple or thorough as you want or have time for.

Making Banh mi preparation easier is all about nailing down the assembly. Once you have your basic pantry items for banh mi, it won’t take that much more effort. The carrot and daikon pickles can be made ahead of time and be stored in the fridge for about 1 month.

Ingredients:

Caramel Ingredients

  • 3 Tbs sugar
  • 2 tbs warm water

Pork Ingredients

  • 2 lbs cubed pork belly (about 1 inch cubes) — Vegans, substitute with seitan
  • 2 large shallots, minced (about 3-4 tablespoons)
  • 1 tablespoons oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons of fish sauce
  • about 1 or 1.5 cups of water
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole black peppercorns

Banh Mi Assembly (not all required, some are optional):

  • 1 french baguette
  • pickled carrots and daikon (recipe, below)
  • fresh cilantro
  • soy sauce
  • pork liver pate
  • mayonnaise
  • thin slices of chili pepper
  • thin slices of cucumber

Directions:

For the nuoc mau (Vietnamese caramel sauce)

  1. Add sugar and water to heavy bottom sauce pan. Heat pan on medium heat and let sugar melt. As sugar begins to melt, the mixture will begin to turn to a golden brown. Using wooden spoon, stir the mixture occasionally.
  2. Do not leave the caramel sauce unattended! Once the sugar begins to melt, it will turn color very quickly. As soon as the mixture turns to a medium golden brown, immediate remove pan from heat.
  3. If the mixture is still too thick, SLOWLY and CAREFULLY add additional water 1 tablespoon at a time until the mixture becomes more watery consistency. Adding the addition water to the HOT caramel will splatter, so be careful. Quickly mix with a wooden spoon so that there are no hard lumps. When finished, set aside.

For the Pork:

  1. In medium to large sauce pan (or dutch oven), turn on heat to medium. Heat oil, then add shallots. Slowly cook shallots for about 1 minute, then add garlic. Cook both until they become soft and fragrant. Add pork belly. Cook pork belly for about 10 minutes or until all the edges are seared and browned.
  2. Add fish sauce and cook pork belly for about another 5 minutes. Add about 1 cup of water. If you need more water to cover the pork, add more until the pork is covered. Add the peppercorns. Turn heat to low and cook for about another 10 minutes. Stirring occasionally. Then add the caramel sauce.
  3. Continue braising the pork on low heat for about another 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until pork is tender. Stir occasionally.

For the Banh Mi assembly:

  1. Slice baguettes lengthwise. Add the ingredients that you want (or like) to the banh mi. Add slices of the pork belly.
  2. Enjoy!

viet pickled veggies

PICKLED VEGGIES FOR BAHN MI

1/4 lb. cucumber, julienned
1 lb. daikon, peeled and julienned
1 lb. carrots, peeled and julienned
2 tsps kosher or sea salt
1 cup unseasoned rice vinegar
1 cup sugar
1 cup water

Make sure the vegetables are fairly dry (pat them dry) so they don’t dilute the pickling liquid with excess water. Combine the vinegar, salt, sugar, and water together until the sugar dissolves. Place the vegetables in a jar large enough to fit them all and pour the pickling liquid into the jar so that all of the vegetables are submerged. Store them sealed in the jar in the refrigerator for 5 days for best flavor.

Paradigm Shift ~ Knock Down Those Walls, by Bill Donahue

jericho_walls
LET’S KNOCK THE WALL DOWN!

There is a wall that separates us from the higher realm or holy city within us.

We have to knock down that wall and we will need the heavy equipment to do it.

You can choose the equipment you wish to use. Both are the same but labeled a bit differently.

You can use the 7 chakras of the Hindu Kundalini, or the 7 Seals of the Book of Revelation.

Both of them operate in the spinal area.

You also can either choose music or om at the time of the assault
on the wall.

So let’s open the scriptures for the detailed instructions.

Joshua 6 King James Version (KJV)
3 You shall compass the city, all you men of war, and go round about the city once. This shall you do for six days.

4 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.

5 And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat.

Notice the emphasis on the seven.

jericho

Now of course this is the Biblical account of Joshua’s assault on the walls of Jericho.

But we must understand that this is pure mythology. I want you to read this report from Zeev Herzog Chief Archaeologist at the University of Tel Aviv in Tel Aviv Israel.

Please do not skip over this. Read it carefully because it will show you why the assault on the wall is your job.

From Zeev Herzog Archaeology Dept, Tel Aviv University Israel

Repeated excavations by various expeditions at Jericho whose conquest is described in the greatest of detail in the Book of Joshua have proved very disappointing.

It is agreed that the late part of the 13th century BCE (before the Christian era) the late Bronze Age is when the conquest was supposed to have taken place.

But at that time there were no cities there and no walls that could have been toppled.

Biblical scholars suggested a quarter of a century ago that the story of Joshua be considered legend and no more.

Then as more and more sites were uncovered the conclusion was bolstered that there is no factual basis for the Biblical story about the conquest by Israelite tribes in a military campaign led by Joshua.

So there it is. A mythical story was contrived that is really about the wall that blocks you from the holy city within you on the right side.

You enter into meditation. The energy begins to rise. Chakras or seals, one, two, three, four, five , six. Just as in the story which spoke of the six days.

Then on the 7th, the Rams horn a great shout, and that wall blocking you from the great light will fall and you will enter the city.

About the Rams horn. The hippocampus of your brain is the place of memory. This is where you will be restored to your true identity and enter the city.

In the Hippocampus is something called Ammons Horn. Ammons symbol was the Ram. So it is there for you.

I cannot tell you when the wall will fall for you, but it will. You can use OM as the Rams Horn or music. Whatever you wish.

The horn is sounded to stop all thought from entering in. You can hear that in many Eastern Meditations today.

So there you are:  six days circling the city. Six chakras, six seals.

Then on the 7th the wall falls and you will enter the Holy City.

Yes that Holy City is Jerusalem which means city of peace,

Not the Jerusalem you can find on a map today. This is that Jerusalem of higher consciousness reached in meditation.

As the scripture reads:

Galatians 4:24 Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. 26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

That is your city. And when that wall finally falls, you will find 12 gates that are the 12 cranial nerves of the brain which now will be vibrating in harmony with the 12 constellations of the Zodiac.

I look forward to hearing that you fought the battle of Jericho, and the walls came tumbling down.

Seeds for Meditation ~ Fluid Movement

golden wave

We are all connected, like a single, fluid mass, and this is why we are able to help each other change. When one of us begins moving forward, all those around him are pulled along.

But if you yourself are standing still, how can you expect to push someone else ahead?

If you need to help someone else overcome his fault, first find that flaw within you. Move forward in that area, and then you can pull along the other guy.
