Gnosticism has produced some of the richest and most difficult spiritual texts of the ancient world. With the discovery of the Nag Hammadi library one is confronted with numerous, often obscure and difficult texts – where to begin? This episode of Esoterica argues that the best first text is the Apocryphon / Secret Writing of John, a text found two recensions (long and short) in four manuscripts from antiquity. Here we introduce, summarize and discuss this amazing gnostic text.

Today’s Oracle | August 6, 2021
I know how hard you have been trying, how much work and effort you have been summoning. Even if you judge yourself for not hving done enough, I see how much struggle you have been enduring, how much you have been trying to overcome. You will succeed. You are capable. But, even the earth requires retreat and rest in order to replenish and continue in time. For now, Beloved, it is rest time. Be with me. Suspend your activity and your judgment, and let it go. Solutions may come to you, too, in this time. But, it is time to simply be with me. Come, let us rest together in the sweetness of divine love.

Nazirutha | Essene Bible Magic Square of 11 Ecclesiae Militantis Sigillum
Known as The Gospel Of The Holy 12 or The Gospel of the Perfect Life, translated from the original Aramaic by Emmanuel Swedenborg, and edited by a Disciple of the Master, this was the book that launched my career into Sacred Mathematics.
This Essene Bible contained some rare drawings of the Magic Squares of 3, 7 and 11.
The “Magic Square Of Eleven Perfected” (M.Sq 11×11) was signed in the Essene Bible with the cryptic words:
“Ecclesiae Militantis Sigillum” which roughly translates as “The Church’s Seal of the Militant” as if it represents a Shield with Celestial Protective Powers or a Sigil of Defense.
Extracted from Lection LXV111, but preserved in its original 1974 presentation to show that nothing has been altered, this Magic Square of 11 x11, as found in the index of the bible illustrates what the Lord in symbol taught to his disciples of the bringing forth of Order out of Disorder, Perfection out of Imperfection, and out of Deficiency Fullness.
The square shown in the bible has some fine print that says:
“33 Summations of 671. Sum Total of Terms, 7,381”
Inside this Essene Square are some highlighted lines. There are 2 crosses, each of 11 cells or numbers that are highlighted, and it shows that the central vertical 7 cells in the middle of the square (viz: 100+49+121+61+1+73+13) plus 2 cells to the right (viz: 111+51) and 2 cells to the left (viz: 11+71) of the central cell which is Number 61, constitute 11 cells in a Christian Cross that also sum to the Constant or Magic Square Sum of 671.
There is also another cross of 11 Cells formed with 7 going horizontally which you can see.

Ground ivy is a herb-like plant that grows perennially up to a height of 8 inches to 20 inches (20 cm to 50 cm) and has a square stem that produces circular, having well-serrated leaves. The flowers of this herb have a purple-blue hue, which has the propensity to become pale mauve. This is primarily owing to the fact because the blossoming may endure for three months or even more – which is basically extraordinary for any wildflower. The leaves emit a camphor smell having an essence of peppermint and citronella.
There was a time when ground ivy was very well accepted for its therapeutic as well as culinary properties. However, currently, homeowners consider this plant bearing violet-blue blooms as a weed since it invades the lawns. Even herbalists practically neglect…

Essene Mystery Teachings and Esoteric Christianity | Rev. David Crawford
Esoteric Christianity refers to the contemplative study and to the mystic living of esoteric knowledge as related to what adherents view as the “inner teachings” of early Christianity, and is believed to be the teachings originally associated with the Essenes.
Some modern-day practitioners believe that the foundational teachings of Esoteric Christianity were publicly presented to the world in an effort to establish a future universal religion as mankind, with a more developed mind and will, walk forward to the understandings of universal Brotherhood. Its central aim is to aid each human being in his/her task of developing the “Christ within” each of us that must be reborn and awakened.
In this context, the Christ Within is defined as “soma psuchicon”, meaning soul body, which was needed by each individual in order to be able to enter and permanently live in the next etheric realm (new heavens and earth): the New Galilee.
This etheric region is thus regarded as the place where man, through the development of the soul body and not in the physical form, “shall be caught up “in the cloud” to meet the Lord; (the Second Advent of the Christ.)
These teachings are also believed by some to enable each individual to understand the mystery of life, that is, the mystery of death, eliminating the fear of it and to prepare human beings to start seeing among themselves the Way of transcendence.
This is being done according to the words “For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known.” (Luke 8:17; KJV) and it is knowledge that had to wait its own time to be grasped by our own mind, as the Christ spoke: “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.” (John 16:12).
It is also referred in the same form of Esoteric Christianity that
there are, and always have been, those being prepared towards
initiation – into the Lesser Mysteries, the secrets concerning the
science of life and being, – through harmonious development of the mind and the heart in a spirit of unselfishness service to mankind.
According to Max Heindel the door of a genuine mystery school is not unlocked by a golden key, but is only opened as a reward for meritorious service to humanity and the true pupil of any mystery school is far too modest to advertise the fact; he will scorn all titles or honors from men, he will have no regard for riches save the riches of love given to him by those whom it becomes his privilege to help and teach.
From an occult point of view, the esoteric Christian tradition
primarily traces itself to the exceedingly devout Order of Essenes which existed in ancient Palestine. They are described as a third sect which existed besides the two that are mentioned in the New Testament, the hypocritical Pharisees and the materialistic Sadducees.
Yehesua, according to the esoteric Christian tradition, was a high initiate educated by the Essenes, till his thirty years of age, and reached a very high state of spiritual development. It is likely that his education was conducted among the Nazarenes of Mount Carmel, an Essene community west of the Galilean area of Palestine.
This Order opened their initiation into the mysteries, in that time and through the centuries ahead, to the most prepared and worthy individuals, who were then able to achieve extraordinary qualities through their own efforts, study and understanding.

He answered and said unto them, “Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.” (Matthew 13:11)
And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the
kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. (Luke 8:10)
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. (Matthew 7:6)

AstroTheology – “As Above, So Below”, with Santos Bonnacci
This Science of ‘as above so below’ is the most ancient universal system of harmonizing man with his natural surrounds! The stars above and the stars below, i.e.: our own bodies. Mankind is in harmony with Nature only when he realizes that he is the microcosm of the Universe and a Galaxy unto himself.
Man has lost this profound knowledge over the past few thousand years due to the Precession of the Equinoxes. The dark history of the recent past was foretold by the ancients. Hesiod, Hermes and many others foretold a time when the understanding of the sacred truths would become obscure and the knowledge would have to go underground to be preserved for a future time. That time has now arrived.

About Gamesplayers and Playing Games
Actually, this is a sticky topic because it’s about getting rid of distractions. Distractions from … what? What is important, of course. But then … what ought to keep your mind? Why, whatever is your point of focus at the moment. Anything will do … so long as you can keep your mind from wandering.
So, wandering is getting involved in games, isn’t it?
And then again … can you stop competing with other human beings … pursuing the desire, the craving, the suffering … to be superior? How to stop playing the “me-first” game?
It seems to be a common human socialization pattern amongst strangers, friends and family. So long as most are busy trying to beat someone at something, such situations create a circumstance that might appear as happiness. Hhhmm … sounds a bit dysfunctional as it appears in this two-dimensional black and white form.
I understand … it’s hard trying not to play The Game, because it feels like a trap from which you cannot get out. What does “it” mean … you cannot get out of “it”? “It” means that you and the trap are one in the same! You are not caught, you see, because when there’s nobody in the trap there is no trap.
And so, if you are able to break from this obsession to compete, to one-up another being, for sport, for egoic satisfaction (read, faux happiness), then you can extract yourself from the gameplaying and The Game … The “my game is more interesting than your game” game … and win that game by choosing not to play at all.
You see … it really doesn’t matter if you live or die, because the Spirit goes on as perfectly indestructible. Body death does not cause Spirit death because Spirit simply loses it’s mortal skin bag and goes on in a different way. So, why entertain a games-player and play their egoic game? It’s their game, their issues, about what defines happiness for them.
Thank you, I do not want or need another’s issues, and respectfully decline.

A PARAPHRASING OF THE GNOSTIC TRACTATES OF CREATION | | TheKingdomWithin
Once before a time, in the endless void of countless aeons of pure and perfected conscious light, a young Daughter of Divine grace took light from Her husband, and, breathing forth, formed our home amongst the heavens. This Seed, emanated from the Daughter alone, birthed from within Her an intelligence that was unlike the host of heaven. This consciousness, in aberration of the pure and perfected awareness, did not contain the perfection of the cosmos, but operated in irregularity in semblance to the imbalanced emanation the young Mother issued forth in Her experimentation of life. As such, seeing the deficiency and having pity upon the newly formed god, the Mother wrapped It in a womb of light to shield it from the perfection, and to conceal Her mistake while She made efforts to rectify Her creation. This luminary, whom She called out to, “Child, come here,” with a face of a lion that shone like the sun and a serpentine tail, opened Its eyes and, surveying a perfect void of …

From The Essene “Holy Streams”
And when darkness gently closes the eyes of the angels of the Earthly Mother, then shall you also sleep, that your spirit may join the unknown angels of the Heavenly Father. And in the moments before you sleep, then shall you think of the bright and glorious stars, the white, shining, far-seen and far-piercing stars. For your thoughts before sleep are as the bow of the skillful archer, that sends the arrow where he wills. Let your thoughts before sleep be with the stars; for the stars are Light, and the Heavenly Father is Light, even that Light which is a thousand times brighter than the brightness of a thousand suns. Enter the Holy Stream of Light, that the shackles of death may loose their hold forever, and breaking free from the bonds of earth, ascend the Holy Stream of Light through the blazing radiance of the stars, into the endless kingdom of the Heavenly Father.
The Cosmic Orgasm: Achieving Christ Consciousness, by Bill Donahue
If that title did not get your attention, I am not sure what will.
This is not a message I could present to a church, because it really does involve orgasm, and they do not talk about such things.
But the message that appears in ancient texts, once you go beyond the literal, speaks in a very adult way. You can’t run from reality because it might offend you.
The Bible has Jesus saying this.
Matthew 7:23 I never knew you. Depart from me.
The Greek word for knew (oida), means sexual intercourse.
The Hebrew word for knew (yada) means sexual intercourse.
Here we have sexual intercourse being used as a symbol of the interaction between you and the Christ mind within you.
The Bible portrays Jesus as the bridegroom, and you as the bride.
Luke 5:34 Can the children of the bride chamber fast while the bridegroom is with them? But the time will come when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them.
The scripture portrays your touching the Christ within you as sexual intercourse. You must separate from thought, and come as a virgin mind to be penetrated by the Christ.
In other words you must know the Christ within you intimately.
And when you do, the orgasm will electrify your body, as it rises up the spine to the pineal gland of the brain.
Truly, what is called Kundalini, or the movement of energy through the seven seals of Revelation, is an orgasm. An orgasm of energy that races through your entire body.
Then the child is born within you. The new mind is born within you.
It is not religion, or spirit. It actually happens in an intercourse of great love within you.
It isn’t something you can pray about, sing about, or read about.
You have to do it.
Go, with the oil in your lamp, for the bridegroom is waiting.

Nazirutha ~ Prayer of St. Theresa of Avila

May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received,
and pass on the love that has been given to you….
May you be content knowing you are a child of God….
Let this presence settle into our bones,
and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for you.
Nazirutha ~ The Song of The Soul, by Shankaracharya
I am neither ego nor reason, I am neither mind nor thought,
I cannot be heard nor cast into words, nor by smell nor sight ever caught.
In light and wind I am not found, nor yet in earth and sky –
Consciousness and joy incarnate, Bliss of the Blissful am I.
I have no name, I have no life, I breathe no vital air,
No elements have moulded me, no bodily sheath is my lair:
I have no speech, no hands and feet, nor means of evolution –
Consciousness and joy am I, and Bliss in dissolution.
I cast aside hatred and passion, I conquered delusion and greed;
No touch of pride caressed me, so envy never did breed:
Beyond all faiths, past reach of wealth, past freedom, past desire
Consciousness and joy am I, and Bliss is my attire.
Virtue and vice, or pleasure and pain are not my heritage,
Nor sacred texts, nor offerings, nor prayer, nor pilgrimage:
I am neither food nor eating, nor yet the eater am I –
Consciousness and joy incarnate, Bliss of the Blissful am I.
I have no misgivings of death, no chasms of race divide me,
No parent ever called me child, no bond of birth ever tied me:
I am neither disciple nor master, I have no kin, no friend –
Consciousness and joy am I, and merging in Bliss is my end.
Neither knowable, knowledge, nor knower am I, formless is my
form, I dwell within the senses but they are not my home:
Ever serenely balanced, I am neither free nor bound –
Consciousness and joy am I, and Bliss is where I am found.
Nazirutha ~ Matthaei Authenticum ~ The True Gospel of Matthew

The Gospel of the Ebionites is one of the early Jewish-Christian Gospels, sharing an affinity with the Gospel of the Hebrews and the Gospel of the Nazoraeans.
Jerome names it as being the same as the Gospel of the Hebrews and states that most ancient Biblical scholars called it “Matthaei Authenticum” or the“True Gospel of Matthew”.
It survives today only as fragments in quotations, and so it is difficult to tell if it is an independent text, or a slight variation on the others. It was used by the Ebionite community during the time of the early church.
The Ebionite Community
At the beginning of the Christian era, Jewish Christian communities flourished throughout the Holy Land. The Ebionites were thought to be an offshoot of theNazarenes. Their center was located east of the Jordan river near where John the Baptist had preached.
The origin of the name Ebionite (or Ebionaean) is debated. Tertullian, Irenaeus, Hippolytus of Rome, Epiphanius, and Jerome ascribed the movement to a heretic named Ebion or Hebion. Others claim the name Ebionite means “poor one”, not derived from a person, but rather from the Beatitudes of Matthew 5:3.
While some note they rejected material wealth, Eusebius and Origen both claimed the Ebionites’ appellation was a term of derision indicating a poverty in intellect, rather than material possessions.
Conflict grew between them and other Christians when the Ebionites failed to embrace the Church doctrines of chastity or celibacy as well as the concept of the Virgin birth. They believed Jesus was begotten of God at the time of his baptism.
Conflict also grew over the issue of the Mosaic law which the Ebionites believed remained in full force. They believed that by fulfilling the law, all are able to become Christs.
They are said to have rejected Paul’s teachings and used only one Gospel, the Gospel of the Ebionites.
They also believed John the Baptist and Jesus as being vegetarians, and rendering him in the adoptionist form. Many of these differences are found in subtle variants of Greek words, such as a meal of egkris (cake), rather than akris (locusts) as used in the later Synoptic Gospels
Epiphanius, whose writing is the main source for finding fragments of the Gospel of the Ebionites, emphasises that the Nazoraeans were considered part of the Christian orthodoxy, whereas the Ebionites were considered heretics, and so there may have been theological and doctrinal differences between the two gospels, possibly over the Virgin Birth which the Ebionites rejected.
Epiphanius considered the Ebionite text to have been mutilated due to textual differences, the lack of a genealogy and nativity story in the Gospel of Matthew – which may indicate that the Ebionites rejected it, or may also be a testimony to an earlier, nativity free, version of Matthew, on which the Ebionite Gospel is based.
Matthaei Authenticum
The Ebionites are said to have used the Gospel of the Hebrews written by the Apostle Matthew.
Epiphanius stated that the Ebionites accepted only Matthew’s Gospel and they used it alone. They called it the Gospel of the Hebrews, for only Matthew expounded and declared the gospel in Hebrew using Hebrew letters.
Irenaeus and Eusebius also confirmed that the Ebionites used only the Gospel of the Hebrews written by Matthew.
Because of differences in Jesus’ baptism account, some modern Biblical scholars have argued that the Gospel of the Hebrews and the Gospel of the Ebionites were two different gospels. However, since only the Gospel of the Hebrews appears in Early Christian catalogues and because Jerome links the Ebionites with the Nazarenes in their use of the Gospel of the Hebrews, this contention is rendered doubtful.
The Gospel of the Ebionites
The Gospel of the Ebionites is a lost text. A few fragments survive in the form of quotations from the Church Father Epiphanius. Below is the assembled textual fragments of the Gospel used by the Ebionites, the Matthaei Authenticum, the True Gospel of Matthew.
First Fragment
It came to pass in the days of Herod, King of Judaea under the high priest Caiaphas, that John came and baptized with the baptism of repentance in the river Jordan; he is said to be from the tribe of Aaron and a son of Zacharias the priest and of Elizabeth and all went out to him.
Second Fragment
And it came to pass when John baptized, that the Pharisees came to him and were baptized, and all Jerusalem also. He had a garment of camels’ hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins. And his food was wild honey, which tasted like manna, formed like cakes of oil.
Third Fragment
The people having been baptized, Jesus came also, and was baptized by John. And as he came out of the water the heavens opened, and he saw the Holy Spirit descending under the form of a dove, and entering into him. And a voice was heard from heaven: “Thou art my beloved Son, and in thee am I well pleased. And again: “This day have I begotten thee.” And suddenly shone a great light in that place. And John seeing him, said, “Who art thou, Lord?” Then a voice was heard from heaven: “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Thereat John fell at his feet and said: “I pray thee, Lord, baptize me.” But he would not, saying “Suffer it, for so it behoveth that all should be accomplished.”
Fourth Fragment
[Matthew said] “And there was a man named Jesus, and he was about thirty years old; he has chosen us. And He came into Capernaum and entered into the house of Simon, surnamed Peter, and He opened His mouth and said, ‘As I walked by the sea of Tiberias, I chose John and James, the sons of Zebedee, and Simon and Andrew and Thaddaeus and Simon Zelotes, and Judas Isariot; thee also, Matthew, when thou wast sitting at the receipt of custom, did I call and thou didst follow me. According to my intention ye shall be twelve apostles for a testimony unto Israel.’
Fifth Fragment
[Jesus was told] “Behold thy mother and thy brethren stand without.”
[He said] “Who is my mother and who are my brethren?” And He stretched forth His hand toward His disciples and said: “These are my brethren and my mother and sisters, which do the will of my Father.”
Sixth Fragment
[Jesus said] “I am come to abolish the sacrifices: if ye cease not from sacrificing, the wrath (of God) will not cease from weighing upon you.”
Seventh Fragment
[The disiples said,] “Where wilt Thou that we prepare for Thee to eat the Passover?” To which He replied: “I have no desire to eat the flesh of this Paschal Lamb with you.”
All translations are from Bernhard Pick, Paralipomena: Remains of Gospels and Sayings of Christ(Chicago, 1908), pp. 16-18. The sequence of fragments here follows Wilhelm Schneemelcher, New Testament Apocrypha, revised edition (Westminster, 1991) volume 1, pp. 169-170. Pick’s arrangement is virtually identical.

~ Peace be with you
EXCERPTS from The Essene Gospel of Peace, Book Three: Lost Scrolls of the Essene Brotherhood
with the Peace of the Heavenly Father,
as the waters cover the sea.
I will invoke the Angel of Peace,
Whose breath is friendly,
Whose hand is clothed in power.
In the reign of Peace, there is neither hunger nor thirst,
Neither cold wind nor hot wind,
Neither old age nor death.
In the reign of Peace,
Both animals and men shall be undying,
Waters and plants shall be undrying,
And the food of life shall be never-failing.
It is said that the mountains
Shall bring peace to the people,
And the little hills, righteousness.
There shall be peace
As long as the sun and moon endure,
Throughout all generations.
Peace shall come down like rain upon mown grass,
As showers that water the earth.
In the reign of Peace shall the Law grow strong,
And the Children of Light shall have dominion
From sea to sea, unto the ends of the earth.
T’he reign of Peace hath its source
In the Heavenly Father;
By his strength he setteth fast the mountains,
He maketh the outgoings of morning and evening
To rejoice in the Light,
He bringeth to earth the river of the Law,
To water and enrich it,
He maketh soft the earth with showers;
They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness,
And the little hills rejoice on every side.
The pastures are clothed with flocks;
The valleys also are covered over with corn;
They shout for joy, they also sing.
O Heavenly Father!
Bring unto thy earth the reign of Peace!
Then shall we remember the words
Of him who taught of old the Children of Light:
I give the peace of thy Earthly Mother
To thy body,
And the peace of thy Heavenly Father To thy spirit.
And let the peace of both
Reign among the sons of men.
Come to me all that are weary,
And that suffer in strife and affliction!
For my peace will strengthen thee and comfort thee.
For my peace is exceeding full of joy.
Wherefore do I always greet thee after this manner:
Peace be with thee!
Do thou always, therefore, so greet one another,
That upon thy body may descend The Peace of thy Earthly Mother,
And upon thy spirit
The Peace of thy Heavenly Father.
And then wilt thou find peace also among thyselves,
For the Kingdom of the Law is within thee.
And return to thy Brothers
And give thy peace to them also,
For happy are they that strive for peace,
For they will find the peace of the Heavenly Father.
And give to every one thy peace,
Even as I have given my peace unto thee.
For my peace is of God.
Peace be with thee!
