Tarot Contemplation – Seven of Swords
Ah, he (or she) is back and behaving with less than ethical intentions, perhaps even prying into someone’s life where he (or she) ought not. Feel like someone’s watching you? You’re probably right. So, resist the impulse to behave similarly regarding another. Your employer is observing your work and conduct closely. Do your job and continue being mindful of the details: perseverance. Be careful with new-found spiritual friends. The truth is that you don’t necessarily need a leader from whom to learn and grow your spirituality.

Tarot Contemplation – The High Priestess
One of my favorite cards of the entire Tarot deck, I identify with the High Priestess because it is a very spiritual card … often with sexual overtones. What does that mean? You are going to be much more physically attractive to others, and that closer attention to you will allow you to inspire others with your insightful wisdom gained from esoteric knowledge you’ve been gathering for some time now. And so, do rely on your intuition and inner knowledge (right brain), rather than your conscious mind or intellect (left brain). You’re dreaming again, so pay attention to what your sub-/supra-consciousness is communicating to your conscious self at this time. Synchronicities are likely to occur, or rather, be noticed now. For men, the High Priestess represents a woman that a man will want badly, but whom he may not be able to get. Pay attention to the messages that flash at you from all sorts of places. Use this time to further expand your spiritual knowledge and understanding in ways you have not explored before now. Talk to others who have already taken that plunge to get their perspectives and inspire you to move out of your comfort zone. Be daring here: it’s to your benefit.

Tarot Contemplation – Five of Pentacles
We are rebalancing as we continue to adjust to changes, so it’s no surprise that today we might be feeling less than secure. Just remember that there is always assistance available when you need it … from both sides of the Veil. You might feel alone, but you always have the choice to change that feeling. Reach out, rather than dwell on feeling like you’ve been left out in the cold. You are not the only one feeling ill at ease at this time. Ask and you shall receive, friends. Remind yourself that nothing lasts forever, especially the downtimes as this card illustrates. Stay mindful of the reality that we are all connected and that allowing others to assist you is your blessing to THEM as well as to yourself. Try to not do it all yourself and have faith that things will improve, because you know deep down that they will!

The Seal of The Theosophical Society
The seal of The Theosophical Society was adapted from H. P. Blavatsky’s personal seal, used by her before the Society was founded in 1875. The symbols it contains are so ancient that nobody knows when they were first used to express universal ideas. They far antedate any political or other modern applications, and have nothing to do with any social or political movements. They are in fact part of the universal mystery-language that can convey wordlessly to the mind sacred truths of nature.
The Serpent swallowing its tail: A very ancient symbol depict- ing eternity and the continu- ity of cyclic time. Like the biblical serpent of Paradiselost understood mystically, it represents wisdom and, because of its ability to shed its skin, regeneration and rebirth. As a circular symbol it signifies to the Hindus the outbreathing and inbreathing of Brahma ̄ (“expander”), the cosmic creator: when Brahma ̄ breathes out, worlds come into be- ing; when he breathes in, all is reabsorbed into the divine essence.
The descending arc of the serpent’s body signifies worlds descending into matter; the ascending arc, their evolution toward spirit. This spiral circulation is eternal, implying evolution through time. The circle itself represents perfection and the restoration of universal harmony; also the Boundless from which all manifestation springs and to which all will return. The symbol is found also in ancient Egypt, Greece, and West Africa, and among Buddhists and Jains, Gnostics and alchemists. The Swastika: A Sanskrit word meaning “well-being,” “aus- picious” — the perennial sym- bol of good fortune found in the cradle of ancient cultures of India, China, Japan, and the Americas, as well as Greece and Rome (including the early Christians). In Scandinavia it was Thor’s hammer and in India Vishnu’s dis- cus and the Jaina cross. In Buddhism, it ex- presses the “wheel of the Law.” Symbol of evolution and perpetual motion, the swas- tika denotes the ever-churning “mill of the gods,” in whose center is the soul, while the bent arms suggest the ceaseless turning of the wheels of life throughout universal ex- istence. When we look at photos of faraway spiral galaxies, we are wonderstruck to see that they clearly resemble swastikas in their vortical motion.
The Interlaced Triangles: Known in the Occident as King Solo- mon’s seal or star, it was called in India the seal of Vishnu. The interlaced triangles signifythe bipolarity in nature — spirit and mat- ter, or male and female. The apex of the white triangle represents the divine monad; the apex of the dark triangle, the manifested worlds. The upward triangle suggests spirit, consciousness, and concealed wisdom, which are mirrored in the downward-pointing tri- angle representing matter, receptive space, manifestation, or wisdom revealed. The sides of the dark triangle may stand for form, color, and substance; the three gunas or fun- damental qualities; and the creative, preserv- ing, and destructive/regenerative forces of the Hindu triad, Brahma ̄, Vishnu, and S ́iva.
Together the triangles represent the manifested universe evolved from the central point within the serpent-circle of time and space. They also form the hexagon of six principles, cosmic and human, emanating from and synthesized by the central point, the seventh and highest self of any evolv- ing being. Thus they express the sevenfold structure of the universe. The central cross is the inner person, touching all things from the six sides through the six triangles. The six points of the star reach outward toward the serpent of eternity, growing and evolving through time. The Ansated Cross, Ankh, or Tau: A sacred symbol particu- larly associated with ancient Egypt, it signifies life, regen- eration, and the descent of spirit from inner realms into the worlds of substance. It can denote a universe in em- bryo, the circle representing the cosmic or spiritual germ or egg hovering over the cross of matter which has issued from it; or limit- less, uncreated space.
Astronomically it is the sign of Venus, Earth’s sister-planet and guardian of humanity. Applied to the human race, it may represent the evolution of man-kind into the bipolarity of male and female, as well as the initiate who holds the key to the mysteries when united with his own spiritual intelligence.
These spiritual symbols forming the seal of The Theosophical Society together comprise an entire philosophy of the inner workings of man and universal nature. Taken as a whole, the seal represents the spiritually re- born person, symbolized by the tau/cross in the center, evolving through the six human and cosmic principles and encircled by the serpent of evolution of spirit in and through matter. On the larger scale, it expresses a universe expanding into manifestation from cosmic spirit. The seal used in this leaflet is a replica of the original TS seal, printed in the Society’s first Pre- amble and Bylaws, October 30, 1875.

Tarot Contemplation – The Magician
The Magician is all about making higher, and better, use of all of one’s Mana … Power that comes from Within: spiritual, emotional, from the supraconsciousness. After all the changes that we’ve been going through these past several days, we are now embarking on another level of our journey. Today comes the Aloha lesson “Na Mahu’i Nui” (great expectations). Great expectations often turn out as planned disappointment. Focus on expectation to put you in the state of “what isn’t.” The heart is naturally going to react to the mind’s preoccupation with “what isn’t” with disappointment, anger, frustration. Your mantra is i keia manawa … stay in this moment. You may notice many synchronicities that point to deep spiritual events taking place despite superficial appearances. Knowledge, strength and inspiration are yours to claim to meet your challenges. Step into your Mana now and consider undertaking some form of spiritual study that you’ve thought about, but put off undertaking for another occasion in the future. Today may very well be this beginning.

Tarot Contemplation – Eight of Cups
The changes you’re experiencing cannot gel into your renewed reality unless and until you move on emotionally and, in some instances, physically. It is a choice to leave a situation that no longer serves you. Though that parting may make you feel sad, know that this choice is in your best interests. Renewed good times lie ahead. If your gut is telling you to move on, then trust yourself and DO IT. If your situation or relationship is fixable, then explore your options on how to rebuild from this point forward. Give yourself some breathing room and carve out some alone-time today. You’ll find depth and wisdom in your solitude … and then, just B R E A T H E …

Tarot Contemplation – Death
After rolling with the milieu of Changes harkened by The Tower yesterday, we find ourselves once again before another portal entry into a new level of experience. The energies are all about transformation, renewal, cleansing and liberation … and they are manifesting in a myriad of ways. We’ve explores similar avenues when the Death card came up several weeks ago. The bottom line in each life situation … with work, love, finance, health and spirituality … is releasing situations, relationships and ideas that limit your potential to expand your knowledge base and, thus, understanding of all around you. You can do it and, if you need assistance, there is always someone waiting in the wings with the ability. Remember, change is inevitable … struggle is an option.

Eight Ways To Avoid Foodborne Illness When Traveling | Berkeley Wellness
We all want a carefree vacation where we can eat and drink anything we fancy. And you can do just that in many cities and countries, whether you’re snacking in a café in Paris or Pisa or dining in an elegant restaurant in Tel Aviv or Tokyo. But when you travel to far-flung, developing locales—India, Pakistan, Sub-Saharan Africa, Egypt, Guatemala, and Brazil, to name a few—you must be extra vigilant to prevent becoming ill from food- or water-borne germs. These tips can help you avoid “traveler’s tummy” when traveling in the developing world or other places where sanitation or water systems are less than optimal.

Tarot Contemplation – The Tower
Change. It’s on your horizon, if not already overhead. Nothing ominous to fear. Rather, a warning that trying to hang on too tightly to the status quo can be disastrous now. This doesn’t have to be a dire warning, as change is a fact of life. Trying to prevent change is like rowing upstream without oars. So, roll with the changes to keep your head above water. It’s likely the some people or situations you previously counted on are no longer there to support you in the same way as in the past … it’s only problematic if you allow it to be. No worries. You’ll get through this part of your journey all right, especially when you remember that you have all the resources you need within you. People will feel argumentative. Do not engage, if you can help it. If you’re feeling pressure build, take a break, get up off that chair and walk it off outside. Give yourself the opportunity to release so that you can maintain balance with a more positive attitude. This is the way to continue receiving new understandings and insights in spite of static in the lines.

Morning Meditation … with Alan Watts
Tarot Contemplation – The Moon
Things may seem somewhat confusing to you now. You may find it hard to understand where you are coming from, much less what others are thinking and feeling! You need to try to sit with the uncertainty, don’t try to force things or people to do things before they are ready. Think of this card as the “Pisces” of the tarot deck. You are definitely in a more psychic and intuitive phase than usual, so it will be important for you to trust your instincts and your impressions, even if you don’t know where they are coming from. Also, not that you need to be mistrusting, but it will be helpful for you to realize that when this card appears, it is possible that all is not what it seems. If you feel you cannot trust someone, then you probably can’t. Go with your gut. If you are waiting on an answer from someone, it may, unfortunately, take longer than you would like. Try to remain patient. This is a very spiritual time and a great time to get a reading, healing work, or other helpful input from spiritual types. You are more psychically open than usual now; pay attention to your thoughts and feelings and to flashes of information that comes from out of the Blue. This is also a great time to access great spiritual books of the world — you’ll absorb more details now than usual. Enjoy!

Tarot Contemplation – Knight of Pentacles
In case you missed him last week, here he is again. This Knight of Pentacles is bringing encouraging news of a practical nature. Today’s theme is “sticking to the basics”. Pentacles is the tarot suit governing materiality, and the Knight represents a grounding influence. Now is not the time to color beyond the lines, so to speak. Sticking to procedure at work serves you best at this time. In money matters, you will be enriched from unexpected sources … perhaps a lucky Lotto ticket or a raise … but, don’t quit your day job. That said, today is not a good day for gambling or any other financial risk. Spiritually, you might be feeling a bit overwhelmed from the insights bombarding you the other day. Try breaking down those chunks into manageable nuggets because it isn’t necessary to decipher your entire life in one evening. You are in the midst of change: change for the better.
