During the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the US government provided funds and USDA food boxes to help feed its food insecure citizens. It’s estimated (as of 2020) that 13.8% of the population is food insecure, and nearly 44 million people use food stamps. The USDA food box program, a lifeline for hungry Americans, has now ended.

Enter Food Is Free Solano. They collect food from food banks, schools, and just about any source that has extra food that would otherwise go to waste. Each week, CPM collects still edible salads and almond milk destined for the dumpster and delivers them to Food Is Free.

Founded and operated by Heather Pierini and a gaggle of great volunteers, they provide food to anyone. For free. You don’t need to qualify to get free food from Food Is Free Solano, which is helping our food insecure neighbors survive another week without wondering…
