Wishful thinking can take it’s toll on the spiritual aspect of life. We can get caught up in self-pity or wistful thoughts of “could have-would have-should have” thinking, which tends to blind us to the beauty of what IS in our lives in this Moment. Remember to pay attention to what “is” in your Now and the many blessings we each currently experience. Do not worry so much about what-could-be because it’s too easy to overlook what we already have in the pursuit of what we do not have. Counting your blessings and remaining constant and grounded in the present moment is key today. Don’t spend too much time in self-pity or wishing your life away. A lot of life has to do with where we place our focus. Place your focus on the things and people in your life for which you ought to be thankful. Today is a great day to either create and maintain a gratitude journal, or take a moment to make an entry in one you’ve already started. If you can’t keep such a journal, then write down things you feel grateful for every day on a piece of paper. Make a list of 20 people, situations and/or things in your life that you are grateful for right now. This activity will elevate your mindset quickly.
