Ayasāva malaṃ samuṭṭhitaṃ
tatuṭṭhāya tameva khādati,
evaṃ atidhonacārinaṃ
sāni kammāni nayanti duggatiṃ.

eats away the base from which it arises,
even so, their own deeds
lead transgressors to states of woe.
