Potential diabetes treatment advances | Harvard Gazette

Researchers at MIT’s David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, in collaboration with scientists at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute and several other institutions, have developed an implantable device that in mice shielded insulin-producing beta cells from immune system attack for six months — a substantial proportion of life span.

Tonight’s Discussion — “Mysticism”, with Manly P. Hall

Manly Palmer Hall (March 18, 1901 – August 29, 1990) was a Canadian-born author and mystic. He is perhaps most famous for his work The Secret Teachings of All Ages: An Encyclopedic Outline of Masonic, Hermetic, Qabbalistic and Rosicrucian Symbolical Philosophy, which is widely regarded as his magnum opus, and which he published at the age of 25 (or 27, 1928)

He has been widely recognized as a leading scholar in the fields of religion, mythology, mysticism, and the occult.

Carl Jung, when writing Psychology and Alchemy, borrowed material from Hall’s private collection.

In 1934, Hall founded the Philosophical Research Society (PRS) in Los Angeles, California, dedicating it to an idealistic approach to the solution of human problems. The PRS claims to be non-sectarian and entirely free from educational, political, or ecclesiastical control, and the Society’s programs stress the need for the integration of philosophy, religion, and science into one system of instruction. The PRS Library, a public facility devoted to source materials in obscure fields, has many rare and scarce items now impossible to obtain elsewhere.

In 1973 (47 years after writing The Secret Teachings of All Ages), Hall was recognized as a 33rdº Mason (the highest honor conferred by the Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite), at a ceremony held at PRS on December 8th, despite never being initiated into the physical craft.

In his over 70-year career, Hall delivered approximately 8,000 lectures in the United States and abroad, authored over 150 books and essays, and wrote countless magazine articles.

Random Thoughts … On Negative Thinking

We are cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The trick is knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out. — Ray Bradbury
Having a hard time getting rid of negative thinking?
Here are a few tips that can help you eliminate negativity and help you to bring a positive spin to your life and make positive thinking easier:
Read books about positive thinking.
When you read books that are positive and uplifting, it helps you to be more positive. Inspirational quotes and affirmations can also help you eliminate more negativity and get into a positive mindset.
Learn how to visualize.
Your imagination and ability to visualize things is an extremely powerful tool. By imagining yourself being positive, and doing more positive actions, your body actually responds in the same way as if you were doing the things that you are imagining. Athletes and other successful people have used visualization for years to help improve themselves and their abilities. By tapping into this ability, you too can eliminate negativity and become more positive.
Focus on using positive words as much as possible.
Avoid negative words, or turn them into their opposite. When thinking, or talking to others, try to always use positive words. Avoid saying I can’t, and start saying I can. This may take some time to put into practice, but as you do it more, it will get easier.
Remember to smile.
Use your smile to project your positive attitude. It is amazing how much of a difference a smile makes. People can actually tell you are smiling when talking to you on the phone, even though they can’t see you smiling. Smiling makes you and those around you feel more positive.
Do not quit – no matter what.
When you quit, you truly fail. What most people think of failure is really just a chance to learn. Often, people quit just before they reach their goal. This is something that successful people know and use all the time. They know that as long as they do not quit, they will eventually achieve what they want.
Become more aware of your negative thoughts.
Learning to recognize when you are having a negative thought and turning it immediately into a positive one is important. It can take time to develop a sense of when you are having negative thoughts, but it is a skill well worth focusing on, so you can change them. Over time, you will find it easier to recognize when you are having a negative thought. Remember it takes time to change a habit, so be persistent.
Make time to do the things that make you happy.
When you take time to do things that make you happy, it can overflow into the rest of your life. Even when life has major challenges, you will find you have more energy to tackle them, if you spend time doing things that make you happy.

Let’s knock those calcium shingles off your Pineal Gland so that you can truly awaken ALL of YOUr potential … sentient, clairsentient, conscious and subconscious.

“We have stumbled upon the potential unlocking of the code of the human mind yet again, the purpose here above all; we must see our feet to walk the path.”

With such popular demand over the last two years, and numerous requests to do so; we have focused our full attentions on producing a soundtrack with such delicate yet precise frequencies concentrated directly and solely at the Pineal Gland. Many claim detoxing or decalcifying the Pineal Gland to be so utterly essential in preparations of the opening of the third eye and we have addressed this head-on with everything in our technological power to do so. As we understand, “Fluoride is everywhere, and so the calcification of the mind is apparent everywhere we look, it is unavoidable as such is the modern world. We can either combat this with a phenomenally strict diet, or break away the toxins from the Pineal Gland altogether using frequencies, frequencies such as the ones used in this audio track. Please wear headphones for optimal results and sit or lie comfortably, preferably with the eyes closed. Notice positive results within 5 times of listening to this track, however we recommend a break of at least one hour between each session.”

Listen to this track as much or as little as you feel comfortable, either sitting or lying in a settled position. We always recommend using headphones for optimal results, however this is not essential.

Please note: ALWAYS consult your GP first before trying to cure any medical problems (including depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, phobias or any other cognitive – or physically related illnesses) with an alternative.

Childhood Leukemias Forged By Different Evolutionary Forces Than In Older Adults

For half a century, cancer researchers have struggled with a confusing paradox: If cancer is caused by the occurrence and accumulation of cancer-causing (oncogenic) mutations over time, young children should get less cancer as they have fewer mutations. Why then do young children have a higher incidence of leukemia than teenagers and young adults?

A new study shows that the evolutionary force of genetic drift contributes to the ability of cancerous cells to overtake populations of healthy cells in young children. In contrast, genetic drift contributes almost not at all to leukemia formation in adults. The finding suggests important new avenues for leukemia treatment in very young patients.

Bid Farewell: Why Millennials Are Abandoning Nightclubs

There’s a massive trend brewing in America’s nightlife scene. The attendance of nightclubs and bars have been on a steady decline for the passed several years and counting. Nightclubs are going out of business left and right with more being threatened to close their doors each and every day. There has been a massive decline in liquor profits and overall revenue. This trend isn’t only exclusive to the United States; the UK has been experiencing a similar drop in their once world-renowned nightlife scene, too! What is to blame for all of this, you ask? Millennials. Who are these impactful millennials? According to GFK, the global research firm, millennials are widely categorized individuals who were born anywhere between the years 1977 and 1994. Ranging between the ages of 21 and 38, they are the target demographic for all club owners and other current nightlife vendors. These millennials are very different from their Generation X parents. We must consider they were raised to be
