Pāli Word a Day for January 27, 2017 — anāvattin — one who does not return

Jayaṃ veraṃ pasavati.
Dukkhaṃ seti parājito.
Upasanto sukhaṃ seti,
hitvā jayaparājayaṃ.

Winning gives birth to hostility.
Losing, one lies down in pain.
The calmed lie down with ease,
having set winning and losing aside.

Dhammapada 15.201
Translated from the Pali by Thanissaro Bhikkhu
