Meditation – OM GAN GANAPATAYE NAMAHA

oṃ: The eternal source-sound-vibration of creation.

gan: Bija mantra (condensed sound form) for Ganesha.

gaṇapataye: “To Ganapati.” Ganapati is another name for Ganesha with similar meaning, as the lord (“pati”) of Shiva’s army (“gaṇa”).

namaha: (Same as “namo”) To honor or solute. “All glory to…”

One of the most prominent deities in Hinduism is Lord Ganesh(GOD OF SUCCESS). When offering any form of prayer, His name is invoked before any other God’s name. This was a blessing he received from his parents Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The name Ganesh is derived because he is the chief (eesha) of all the servers (ganas) of Lord Shiva.

Lord Ganesh is referred to as the one with the single tusk, the one who has mouse as his vehicle and the one who penned the epic Mahabharata.

Mantras are usually of Sanskrit origin, which are power-packed formulas, highly compressed and charged with a magical potency and deep meaning. Mantras can be a word, a sound or a phrase. It helps in elevating or modifying consciousness by its meaning, rhythm, tone, sound and the reflexology of the tongue against the palate of the mouth when saying the mantra.

Chanting the Ganesh Mantra brings about a lot of changes in the person. It helps in calming the person and bringing overall positivity in life. Having a hard time getting rid of negative thinking?
 
Here are a few tips that can help you eliminate negativity and help you to bring a positive spin to your life and make positive thinking easier:
 
Read books about positive thinking.
 
When you read books that are positive and uplifting, it helps you to be more positive. Inspirational quotes and affirmations can also help you eliminate more negativity and get into a positive mindset.
 
Learn how to visualize.
 
Your imagination and ability to visualize things is an extremely powerful tool. By imagining yourself being positive, and doing more positive actions, your body actually responds in the same way as if you were doing the things that you are imagining. Athletes and other successful people have used visualization for years to help improve themselves and their abilities. By tapping into this ability, you too can eliminate negativity and become more positive.
 
Focus on using positive words as much as possible.
 
Avoid negative words, or turn them into their opposite. When thinking, or talking to others, try to always use positive words. Avoid saying I can’t, and start saying I can. This may take some time to put into practice, but as you do it more, it will get easier.
 
Remember to smile.
 
Use your smile to project your positive attitude. It is amazing how much of a difference a smile makes. People can actually tell you are smiling when talking to you on the phone, even though they can’t see you smiling. Smiling makes you and those around you feel more positive.
 
Do not quit – no matter what.
 
When you quit, you truly fail. What most people think of failure is really just a chance to learn. Often, people quit just before they reach their goal. This is something that successful people know and use all the time. They know that as long as they do not quit, they will eventually achieve what they want.
 
Become more aware of your negative thoughts.
 
Learning to recognize when you are having a negative thought and turning it immediately into a positive one is important. It can take time to develop a sense of when you are having negative thoughts, but it is a skill well worth focusing on, so you can change them. Over time, you will find it easier to recognize when you are having a negative thought. Remember it takes time to change a habit, so be persistent.
 
Make time to do the things that make you happy.
 
When you take time to do things that make you happy, it can overflow into the rest of your life. Even when life has major challenges, you will find you have more energy to tackle them, if you spend time doing things that make you happy.

Body Scanning Yourself – STOP SAYING “I WISH” AND START SAYING “I WILL”

Are you having a hard time connecting mind and body?

There is a technique that you can use to do a “full body scan” and connect everything perfectly.

If you have ever read anything about mindfulness or had any interest in the subject, there’s a good chance you might have heard of the ‘body scan’ technique. For those who haven’t heard of this exercise, it’s a great introduction to mindfulness and also a great way to strengthen your mind/body connection.

This exercise is also a fantastic way to see just how much you miss by being too inside your own head and forgetting to be present. Read on to give it a try…
The Body Scan

The idea of the body scan is to help bring your attention to your own body, your surroundings and the simple experience of ‘being’. It will take you out of your own head and show you just how much sensory information is coming in at any time.

To begin then, bring your attention to your breath and focus on it with each breath inward and outward.

Continue this for a few minutes and as you do you might notice your mind starts to drift. Don’t punish yourself for this, simply make a note of how your mind is working and then bring it back to your experience.

Eventually, you should start to notice other sensations throughout your body. You may notice the feeling of your buttocks on the floor or chair for instance. Perhaps you can feel the light breeze on your skin. Maybe you can feel a slight tension in the muscles of your back.

Gradually expand your awareness to encompass your entire body and then further to encompass the environment around you. Try and listen for sounds in the distance and be aware of how many sounds you can pick up. Don’t engage with them, just be aware of them and be constantly aware of your breathing.
Mindfulness

To extend this to true mindfulness, you’re next going to expand your mindfulness even further – this time to encompass your own thoughts so that you’re aware of them drifting through your mind like clouds. As with the external sounds earlier, the aim here is not to engage with those thoughts – simply to observe them in a passive manner without assessing or judging them.
