Imagine you discovered youʻd been overcharged on your property taxes and when you questioned it, you were told youʻd never owned your property even though you bought it years ago and had been paying property taxes all those years. Then imagine not one official in the city, county or state was willing to help you get it all straightened out. Much to her surprise thatʻs exactly what happened to Hawaiian land owner Routh Bolomet. Watch our amazing interview with Routh as she describes how these shocking events unfolded and why this dispute ultimately caused her to go all the way to the United Nations for help.

Card of the Day – King of Swords – Friday, September 14, 2018
Today I feel as though this King comes with a bit of caution; whether it be male or female, there could very well be someone in your midst who simply becomes unhinged. Perhaps you see it around you, or even in the news, but you will definitely stand up and take notice. Do not let it be you. Typically, we are always seeing the Queen near a New or Full Moon, and this guy does not make as many appearances. There are some narcissistic tendencies here, as well as bullying and being extremely critical, and downright nasty in some cases.
Enough of that guy! Let us remind ourselves what the positive side of this King of Swords can be. He is an intellectual and extremely organized. He, or she, possesses the mental clarity to accomplish their goals without emotion or drama being part of the equation. There is a no…

Card of the Day – 3 of Cups – Thursday, September 13, 2018
We always tend to view this as a card of celebration, but it feels like so much more today. While a party is not out of the question for some of you, this is more about a positive sense of community. Truly, it is time to set aside differences and work together in a positive manner. It is possible to see numerous examples of this in the coming days, especially as Hurricane Florence barrels down on the Eastern seaboard of the United States. People working together in a positive manner evokes emotions of camaraderie, as differences are set aside for the greater good. By now, you are probably thinking this is a positive card and she is talking about a history-making storm.
The moral of the story today is that life itself is worth celebrating, and embracing each and every day with the joy of the 3 of Cups allows…

To kick it off, we have an interview with mbg co-founders Jason & ColleenWachob, who share exactly how a CEO & CBO manage a family and a growing business. Welcome to (Mostly) Mindful Parenting! […]
How To Help Your Child Tap Into Their Inner Self
Discipline isn’t always a good thing.
It is only when we can acknowledge the role of our ego in parenting that we will begin to become conscious of its influence—and then rein it in so that our children are not burdened by its expectations and agendas. […]
Why Raising A Child Might Be The Most Heroic Thing You Ever Do
Parenting requires more courage than you can ever imagine.
It’s been five years since I wrote a story called “11 Things I Wish Every Parent Knew” for mbg in honor of caring for children in my pediatric practice for 25 years. I think that piece has resonated with so many people because it came straight from my heart. Well, the winds of life don’t stop at 11 things. Children continue to be my teachers. Reflecting upon my now 30-year journey as a pediatrician and parent, here’s the one big thing I didn’t say five years ago—and it may be the most important of all. […]

Food as Medicine: Stinging Nettle (Urtica dioica, Urticaceae)
Urtica dioica (Urticaceae) is commonly known as nettle, common nettle, or stinging nettle. The species is an herbaceous perennial with a spreading growth habit. Growing 4-6 feet tall, stinging nettle produces numerous erect and wiry stems that hold up its opposite, roughly textured, serrated leaves.1-4 It produces small, inconspicuous greenish-brownish flowers that emerge as axillary inflorescences.2 The stems and undersides of leaves are covered with hairs called trichomes. When touched, these stinging trichomes inject a chemical cocktail that typically causes localized skin irritation as well as a painful, tingling sting from which the species has derived its most common name, stinging nettle.1,5
The Urticaceae family contains about 500 known species, distributed mainly in tropical areas.1 The genus Urtica, whose name comes from the Latin uro (to burn) and urere (to sting), consists of both annual and perennial herbaceous plants known for the burning properties of the…

Card of the Day – Ace of Pentacles – Wednesday, September 12, 2018
Woohoo! Everyone loves to see an Ace! The Ace of Pentacles is like having another wish card in the Tarot. There is Divine Intervention here, new beginnings are possible, and things such as financial opportunity, manifestation, and prosperity.
This may very well correlate to something which you have been working on in recent days.
You are still operating under the splendor of the New Moon in Virgo, and the possibilities for your intentions are favored. Today is the sextile between Jupiter and Pluto, showing there is more than a stroke of good luck involved. It is very possible to see some form of real success with something you have been attempting to bring to fruition.
I must admit, this feels two-sided to me today. There are some out there who seem to be in a downward spiral; remember, the only way to go will be up should things bottom out…

Pluto in Capricorn at 19º and its effect on the generation born in 1993-94
The cycle Uranus-Neptune has a duration of 171 years, that is to say, that they form a conjunction, they align themselves in the sky, every 171 years. In the years of this millennium, we have experienced these conjunctions, in1136 in the sign of Libra, in 1307 and 1478 in Scorpio, 1649 in Sagittarius and the last two, 1821 and 1993 in Capricorn. Therefore all those born between 1993 and 1994, have in their birth chart this conjunction of Uranus-Neptune in Capricorn, which describes not only that generation but of course the moment in which they were born. It describes perfectly this division that we see all over the world where it seems that we have positioned ourselves politically on one side or the other, opposite the previous.
In the United States, Democrats and Republicans are more divided than ever, in Latin America, you also see this phenomenon. In Argentina it…

Take care of yourself, because we’re fast approaching one of the most emotionally challenging and deceptive retrogrades in all of astrology. Card of the Day – The Lovers – Tuesday, September 11, 2018
I am not at all surprised to see the appearance of the Lovers card today. Only two days ago, Venus, already in shadow since September 3, entered Scorpio, its sign of detriment (meaning it is not Venus’ favorite place to be). However, there is no sign more passionate than Scorpio, and Venus is preparing to retrograde on October 5 in this very intense sign.
Venus, just like the Lovers, is all about relationships, and so too is today’s Libra Moon. Venus in Scorpio will seek to uncover the truth in your relationships (not necessarily the love ones), and expose the reality of it all in order for you to review it during this upcoming retrograde. The Libra Moon will help you to seek balance and compromise, where possible, perhaps finding yourself even refereeing, trying to bring two sides together in an amicable fashion.
Truly, today’s Lovers card can cover pretty…

Current Events | Amidst Controversy, Chicago-Based Seafood Bowl Chain Aloha Poke Shutters In San Diego After Only 2 Months In Business
September 4, 2018
This summer wasn’t the best for Chicago-based Aloha Poke. The chain of seafood bowl restaurants was targeted and accused of cultural appropriation after it was revealed that they were threatening other eateries with legal action for using any derivation of the words “aloha” with “poke”, based on a trademark the company owns. Well the backlash may have been too much to handle, as Aloha Poke Co. has closed its sole San Diego outpost after only two months in business. […]

Card of the Day – 7 of Pentacles – Monday, September 10, 2018
What a great card for a Monday, especially this one! You are right smack dab between the New Moon in Virgo and a Jupiter/Pluto sextile. Something is about to pay off for you in a big way. Today is a good day to focus on something which has perhaps been on your back burner for manifestation; the timing appears to be right now to go for it. Up until now, it seems as though every time we would see the 7 of Pentacles, it would be about the effort and assessment necessary to reach one’s goals. Truly, that never goes away, no matter how much success you amass for yourself.
Today is all about having your efforts rewarded; it does not necessarily denote a financial boost, but there are numerous ways to bring life’s projects to fruition. Something tells me it is not all, rather one particular one which enjoys…
