You are still under the influence of yesterday’s New Moon in Taurus, a brilliantly positive New Moon, for the Moon is exalted in Taurus, and Jupiter is in the vicinity to bestow its favors upon you.

Take this time to peruse the want ads if you are in search of a new job. Tweak your resume. Take care of matters which will bolster your bottom line in some way. It is not too late to put forth your intentions for the New Moon. It may take a couple of cycles of the Moon, but you are working on manifesting what you need.

Since psyche and matter are contained in one and the same world, and moreover are in continuous contact with one another and ultimately rest on irrepresentable, transcendental factors, it is not only possible but fairly probable, even, that psyche and matter are two different aspects of one and the same thing.

The synchronicity phenomena point in this direction, for they show that the nonpsychic can behave like the psychic, and vice versa, without there being any causal connection between them.

Our present knowledge does not allow us to do much more than compare the relation of the psychic to the material world with two cones, whose apices, meeting in a point without extension—a real zero-point—touch and do not touch.

Psyche cannot be totally different from matter, for how otherwise could it move matter? And matter cannot be alien of psyche, for how else could matter produce psyche?

In archetypal conceptions and instinctual perceptions, spirit and matter confront one another on the psychic plane.

Matter and spirit both appear in the psychic realm as distinctive qualities of conscious contents.

The ultimate nature of both is transcendental, that is, irrepresentable, since the psyche and its contents are the only reality which is given to us without a medium.

There are times in life when we must be willing to move forward from that which we have known and enter uncharted territory. This is a process we are all going through at the moment leading us to new discoveries as we leave behind old ways of life. Some may consider this to be abandonment but it is merely that some portion of life has outlived its usefulness no matter how make good it may have been at one time.

The 8 of Cups is an indicator of moving on, leaving behind past disappointments, and going in search of a new form of fulfillment. It is a quest which will lead you far into the reaches of the unknown.

Health | Sleep frees up the hippocampus for new memories

Two regions of our brain are central for storing memories: the hippocampus and the neocortex. While the hippocampus is primarily responsible for learning new information and its short-term storage, the neocortex is able to store large amounts of information for a long time. Lea Himmer, Dr. Monika Schönauer and Professor Steffen Gais of the Institute of Medical Psychology at the University of Tübingen and their team investigated how these brain areas interact during the consolidation of new memories and which role sleep plays in that process. The team of researchers used functional neuroimaging to show that repeated rehearsal can lead to the establishment of memory traces in the neocortex within a short timeframe. However, these traces are only sufficiently stable if a sleep phase follows learning – otherwise the brain continuously needs to call on the hippocampus to help with long-term storage of new memories. The new study is published in Science Advances.

In this new study, the researchers had their participants study a list of words, which was repeated seven times. While they conducted this task, their brain activity was recorded by an MRI scanner. Twelve hours later, the participants repeated the task with the learned words and a new word list. Half of the subjects had slept in the meantime, while the other half had remained awake. Repeated practice led to increased involvement of the posterior parietal cortex, a region of the neocortex, within an hour. At the same time, the hippocampus became less and less engaged in the process. […]
