The sacred and the scientific clash on Hawaii’s Mauna Kea

Over a thousand years ago, Polynesians followed the stars in the Mauna Kea sky on their path to Hawaii. Those stars are now of interest to astronomers, who believe the mountain’s summit is the perfect spot to build a giant, cutting-edge telescope. But native Hawaiians view that peak as a sacred space. Science correspondent Miles O’Brien reports for the second in our series about the controversy.

REIKI | HEALING SESSION (3 hours)

Similar to recharging a battery, Reiki is the channeling of high-vibrational energy into you aura, chakras and meridians.

Reiki is is a natural tool that can be used to help us cope with the stresses of every day life, and works on all aspects of a person by bringing the mind, body and spirit back into beautiful alignment. Reiki works on all planes – physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

It has been proven that receiving Reiki affects brain waves by transforming consciousness in the same way that meditation does – the breath deepens, stress levels in the body drop, oxygenated blood flows more freely, aiding in the detoxification of the body + mind.

When you receive a Reiki healing, you are being brought back into a state of harmony with the universe. Its calming effect will leave you feeling lighter, happier and connected. Reiki is a wonderful tool to use alongside modern medicine and other therapies, as it supports the physical body during the healing process.

With so many of us feeling a bit hopeless these days, I am reposting this small essay on the Dark Night of the Soul.

I read a short blog post the other day that made me sad…and sympathetic. It was by a young woman who felt she had lost the mystery of her Pagan path. The power of the rites had flown. She doubted. Her anguish was palpable in what she wrote.

Thismay have been the first time thathad happened to her.

Yet I can guarantee that, if we follow any spiritual path for a sufficient length of time, this same thing will happen to each of us. At some point, the mystery dries up. The excitement dies down. The thrill of discovery is not asthrillingas it once was. Usually, this doesn’t happen…
