Lāʻieikawai, the Beauty of Paliuli, was born into a family of aliʻi (chiefs) and taken by her grandmother Waka to be raised safely in the forest of Paliuli. She is the most beautiful woman in all of Hawaiʻi, and is pursued by a lengthy line of suitors. Enjoy this reenactment of a traditional epic Hawaiian tradition about family love and duty, a bit of adventure, and friendship.

 

About UH Mānoa’s Theatre and Dance Department in the Hawaiian Theatre Program: The newest addition to the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa’s Theatre and Dance Department is the Hawaiian Theatre Program. The program includes courses on the history of theatre in Hawai‘i, the study and analysis of indigenous Hawaiian performance, and training in both traditional and contemporary Hawaiian performance forms. Forthcoming original productions will reflect and honor the language, traditions, history and values of the Hawaiian community. Degree offered: MFA, Hawaiian Theatre.

Choices and the task of figuring things out is not always an easy thing. The 7 of Cups asks us to look at things realistically, but truth be told, things may not feel 100% clear at this time. This is an emotional week for many, still riding the wave of Eclipse season, and, as we near the end of the Sun in Cancer, one should expect emotions to surge even more. I mention this because the Suit of Cups itself is representative of emotion, and this feels like a very prominent theme at the moment.

With the 7 of Cups being about things such as wishful thinking, choices, disillusionment and our hopes and dreams, you may still be feeling as though you do not know what to choose. It will happen and you will figure out what it is that you need to know.

What lies ahead? Between all of the retrorades, there are currently five, and an Eclipse season with three eclipses rather than two, who could possibly know what twists and turns there will be. There are several more weeks of this to navigate, so be patient with yourself, especially should you feel unable to make a decision. You are not stuck, even if you feel your inability to see what is going on is preventing you from moving forward right now.

Give this feeling a couple of days, perhaps until Monday, or Tuesday, for you still have some sorting out left to do. In the long run, it is all for the better, so, for today, use the tranquility represented in this card to maintain peace in your corner of the world.

Well, here it is! The cards have been pushing you to break out and break free, and for there to be some form of release. The Tower pretty much lets everything loose at once, so to speak. I have been saying massive change is on the horizon; it has arrived with yesterday’s New Moon Supermoon Partial Solar Eclipse at 20° Cancer. This Eclipse was in direct opposition to Pluto, signaling the time has come for transformation to the extreme. There was also a trine with Saturn and Uranus, creating a very harmonious vibe for you, leaving you with no choice but to break out and set yourself free.

When the Tower appears, it can bring about the complete abolition of a way of life, but, in this particular case, I feel that most are only seeing the greatest changes with regards to the areas which have needed them the most…

New Moon blessings to all! Today, or tomorrow, depending upon where you live, we will have a New Moon Supermoon Partial Solar Eclipse at 20° Cancer. Things are ready to shift in a very big way. The politics of life; very often to make it through the day, you need to use one face for this person, and one face for another. It is not about being two-faced at all, rather playing things close to the vest and not showing your complete hand for whatever reason.
