Pāli Word a Day for June 16, 2017 — niraggaḷa — unobstructed, free

Acchecchi vaṭṭaṃ,
byagā nirāsaṃ.
Visukkhā saritā na sandati.
Chinnaṃ vaṭṭaṃ na vattati.
Esevanto dukkhassā.

One has broken the cycle,
attained freedom from desire.
The dried-up stream no longer flows.
The cycle, broken, no longer turns.
This, just this, is the end of misery.

Udāna 7.62

Morning Meditation for June 16, 2017 – James Allen

Let a man realize that life in its totality proceeds from the mind, and lo, the way of blessedness is opened up to him! For he will then discover that he possesses the power to rule his mind and to fashion it in accordance with his Ideal.

So will he elect to strongly and steadfastly walk those pathways of thought and action which are altogether excellent; to him life will become beautiful and sacred; and, sooner or later, he will put to flight all evil, confusion, and suffering; for it is impossible for a man to fall short of liberation, enlightenment, and peace, who guards with unwearying diligence the gateway of his heart.

Daily Mystic Reflections … by Sri K. Parvathi Kumar

Gates open wide.  Boat launched ocean.  Star guides boat.  Star reflects fish in ocean.  Fisherman sails.  Fishing of man.

The life of an adept moves like a boat in a river.  The boat moves as per the currents of the river.  The adept moves as per the currents of the time.  The river joins the ocean; likewise, the adept’s life joins the greater life.  When the river joins the ocean, it opens wide forming deltas.  Also, the life of an adept grows far wider before joining the great life.  He becomes a planetary worker influencing many lives in all parts of the globe.  His life becomes unlimited.  His travel also becomes eternal and unlimited.  The distant stars form the guide.  The Great Bear, the Pleiades and Sirius keep guiding the adept.  The stars are reflected on Earth as the Hierarchy.  The Hierarchy of the Masters of Wisdom keeps guiding.  The hunter turned king.  The king turned saint.  The saint joins the Hierarchy.  Hereafter, he has only one work.  It is fishing the souls.  He sails in life and keeps fishing the souls to restore them to the path.  The saint becomes the fisherman.  He is a fisher of men.

Morning Meditation for June 15, 2017 – James Allen

When a man’s soul is clouded with selfishness in any or every form, he loses the power of spiritual discrimination and confuses the temporal with the eternal.

Men cling to and gratify the flesh as though it were going to last forever, and though they try to forget the nearness and inevitability of its dissolution, the dread of death and of loss of all that they cling to clouds their happiest hours and the chilling shadow of their own selfishness follows them like a remorseless spectre.

And with the accumulation of temporal comforts and luxuries, the divinity within men is drugged, and  they sink deeper and deeper into materiality, into the perishable life of the senses; and where there is sufficient intellect, theories concerning the immortality of the flesh come to be regarded as infallible truths.

Tarot Contemplation – The World

The World card represents both endings and new beginnings.  You have learnt the lessons from your current phase of life.  It is time to move on.  This card can mean a victory or graduation.  It is telling you that you have enough and that you are enough.  It is time to move beyond thoughts of your personal quest to bigger thoughts of what you can offer the earth.

Reflections …

“As long as we continue to ignore our divine side and the Divine Wisdom and highly specialized faculties and abilities we have, as long as we refuse to use them or exercise them, we will remain in all of our mental and worldly affairs, nothing more than creatures of the animal kingdom. Religions say we should put our faith in God, but as Rosicrucians, we say that we should put our faith in the Divine Consciousness, the Divine Wisdom and the Divine Powers that we all possess and which reside within each of us and remain more or less undeveloped in all human beings.”  — H. Spencer Lewis

3, 6, 9 Mac N Cheese

trishlee75's avatarCook Plant Meditate

For those of you math nuts out there, you will appreciate this recipe.  I first conceived of it while watching an Ancient Aliens episode on Nikola Tesla.  Apparently he was fanatical about the numbers 3, 6 and 9, as well as just about everything else.  Tesla said “If you only knew the magnificence of the 3, 6 and 9, then you would have a key to the universe.”  While I have to admit that I really don’t know of the true profoundness of which Tesla spoke of 3,6, and 9, I wanted to see how these magic numbers would apply to my cooking. You will notice the measurements in these, and multiples of these numbers.  And, maybe I didn’t find the key to the universe anywhere in the bottom of the pan, but the resulting mac-n-cheese made me feel like I had.  Best mac-n-cheese ever. This recipe is a little…

Tarot Contemplation – Queen of Pentacles (reversed)

When the Queen of Pentacles appears reversed it is a signal to look at the relationship between yourself, your body and your physical environment.  You may be treating yourself badly, particularly in terms of how you are treating your body.  You may be eating or drinking things that bring you momentary satisfaction, but that you know are bad for you.  Pay attention to how you feel after indulging in these “treats”; are the long term costs really worth the short-term pleasure?  You may be eating or drinking in order to soothe difficult feelings, what is commonly called “emotional eating”.  While this may provide you a quick fix in the moment, chances are good that drowning your emotions with food or drink ultimately leads to even more difficult emotions.  Try to let your emotions flow rather than burying them with food.  When we let ourselves really feel our emotions we can begin to get to the root of our troubles.  Short term fixes don’t encourage us to grow.  You may be expending a lot of energy to nurture and nourish your family or friends, or maintain a perfect home, while at the same time neglecting yourself. Remember, we can care for others better if we take care of our own needs first.  If we are caring for others at the cost of not taking care of our own needs and desires, we are likely to burnout or get stuck in negative emotions.  If you’ve been feeling out of sorts and the Queen of Pentacles appears reversed this could be the Tarot telling you to spend time in nature, nourish yourself with whole, natural foods, or treat yourself to some earthy luxury, like the healing touch of massage, or an esteem-boosting makeover.  The Queen of Pentacles reversed can also be someone who has trouble managing money or their home.  They may be wasteful or in some other way damaging to their environment or future security.  They may be overprotective, either of their own self, or their loved ones.  In any extreme example, they may be so protective of their safety that they become afraid of leaving their house.  If you are having trouble managing your own safety and security, this card may be advising you to seek help from others.

Tarot Contemplation – Ten of Wands

This card shows up when someone’s enthusiasm has resulted in them taking on a lot of responsibility, so much responsibility that they feel overburdened or resentful.  When we try to do too much we are often unable to do anything effectively.  When we’re doing too much, we miss opportunities for new inspiration and growth.  We may even be at risk of physical or emotional injury.  This card reminds us to pare down, remember our priorities and eliminate the unnecessary.  Take stock of your priorities.  Is everything you do serving your ultimate goals, or have you acquired some habits that take your time and energy with very little payoff?  Delegate responsibility to someone else.  You may think that if you don’t do it, it won’t get done right.  Try taking a step back to see what happens.  You may be surprised!  So, for today, all the things you’ve let pile up are dragging you down.  When we get stuff done, it boosts our energy and fires up our momentum.  So start tackling that to-do list today.  This might mean delegating tasks, or crossing things out that really aren’t that important to you.  Clear out the energetic clutter in your life and prepare to be revitalized.

Sensing Energy – Beginners

salemshouse's avatarSalem's House

Energy healing seems to be  a concept that seems to plant many seeds of misinterpretation. Thanks to pop culture we have some pretty grandiose ideas for what energy healing is or could be. A wizard’s wand sending big blue swaths of firefly light that penetrates the chest of the hero, readying her to go kill the dragon. As epic as that would be, magick in movies and TV are visually pumped up for theatrics. In reality, it is more accurately equated to Popeye eating a can of spinach and having super-muscles.

We will dive into the nuance of energy philosophy in subsequent posts. Today I am here to empower you to start working on your subtle energy sense right away.

A few things to know, energy flows in spiral or vibrations. It’s how we hear sound, how light bounces off of things to reflect what we perceive as color, it is our life force…
