Current Events | Warnings of ‘Volcanic Tsunami’ After Eruption in the Philippines

The Taal Volcano has erupted Sunday Morning and the cause is thought to be hydro-thermal in nature. In Batangas, an interview on Dobol B sa News TV states that the phreatic eruption was said to be recorded at around 11am. Three hours later a much stronger explosion was recorded, and more than one kilometer of ash was spewed into the sky.

Alert Level 1 didn’t last long, as officials quickly made the decision to raise the alert level to Level 2. This simply means that there will be a probability of a magmatic intrusion which could possibly lead to an eruption.

Three earthquakes were recorded at 7:35am, 10:43am, and 14:00pm Philippines Time Zone.

Foodstyles | Lemon Almond Cookies

These cookies have real lemon slices on top for an extra strong flavor. I pre-baked the slices a little before placing them on the cookie to bake together so that the lemon flavor is a little bit more concentrated, but when you bite into each cookie you’ll still get a burst of fresh citrus goodness.

The effect is almost as though the cookies are filled with some zesty lemon cream. Some of the juice from the lemon slices also seeps into the cookie itself, giving it a delicious lemon almond flavor.

The trick is to get the lemon slices just thick enough to not get burned during baking — so keep an eye out as they’re pre-baking, as you might want to take them out sooner if need be (or bake at a lower temperature all together, as some ovens bake stronger than others).

You can experiment a little with your oven settings and you can slice the lemons thicker or thinner to your liking (thicker means juicier and stronger in flavor, thinner means more delicate but also more likely to burn a little around the edges). Optimal thickness is around an eighth of an inch.

But don’t sweat it if there’s a tiny bit of browning happening anyways (as you can see in the cookie below around the edges) — they’ll still be delicious!

Also, note that I used a nut butter that’s a mix of almond and hazelnut butter (from Nuts to You Nut Butter) because that’s what I had on hand. A pure almond butter would work great here too on its own, but I did enjoy the light depth the hazelnuts added. So if you can find an almond hazelnut mix, go for it. If not, plain almond butter will do just fine.

INGREDIENTS

LEMON SLICES
1 to 1 ½ small fresh lemons, washed

ALMOND COOKIES
½ cup white rice flour
3 tbsp almond meal
3 tbsp maple syrup
2 tbsp creamy natural almond hazelnut butter (or just almond butter)
1 tsp almond extract
⅛ tsp salt

OPTIONAL TOPPING
a tbsp of coconut milk powder for dusting*

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Pre-heat oven to 375F. Line a small cookie sheet with parchment paper. Slice lemon(s) into rings about an ⅛” thick (you’ll need 8 good looking rings). Carefully pick out any seeds. Lay each ring flat on the prepared cookie tray and bake for approx. 15 mins. Keep an eye out to make sure the lemon slices don’t burn (as they’ll later cook even further), especially as some ovens can bake stronger than others. At this stage you basically just want to pre-cook and dehydrate them a little. Note that the thinner you slice the lemons the quicker they’ll bake, the thicker you slice them the juicier and more prominent their flavor will be). Once ready, remove the lemon slices from the oven and set aside to cool a little.
  2. While the lemons are baking, prepare the cookies by processing all cookie ingredients in a food processor (I used the small bowl of mine) until the mixture sticks together and is at the beginning stages of forming a ball.** Gather all this dough up (I used a spoon to scoop it out of the processor) and form into a ball with your hands. Then divide this ball into 2, then divide each half into 2, then divide each quarter into 2, so that you’re left with 8 equal pieces of dough.
  3. Line a small cookie sheet with parchment paper. Roll each piece of dough into a ball, then flatten into a disk. Place on the cookie sheet, spreading them half an inch apart. Once the lemon slices are ready, place a slice over the center of each cookie and press down to flatten the cookie further and embed the lemon slices in a little.
  4. Bake the cookies for approximately 12 minutes until nicely golden (again, keep an eye to make sure the lemon slices don’t burn, if need be, lower the oven temperature a little if the lemon slices are thin and are browning too fast). Remove from oven and cool completely on a wire rack.
  5. Optional: once cool, dust the cookies lightly with some coconut milk powder. Enjoy!

Energy Update | January 12, 2020

Be consistent right now. Keep the visualizations going. Keep the affirmations going. Keep being positive about everything. Every moment counts. Don’t judge yourself or even judge the timing of everything. Enter a state of gratitude, celebration, and completion of your manifestations. Everything is already yours. What you think about belongs to you. What you feel is making its way towards you. What you want wants you. What you give your energy to grows and amplifies in your awareness. Stay focused on purpose. Let what goes, go. Let what comes, enter. Just keep speaking, thinking, and feeling power over your life. Nothing is complicated when you learn to just breathe, believe, and trust that everything is already happening for you. You just need to keep shinning from within and being patient with yourself. Be loving to yourself. You are very special and you being here right now shows that your life means so much more than what you can understand sometimes. Start noticing the beauty about existence. The small things like your aliveness and your energy. Your mind. Your abilities. The billion things happening every second for you that doesn’t require your conscious attention. You are being supported so feel light today. Feel warmth and love. Feel energized to be your greatest through recognizing it and allowing it now. Keep going.

Daily Meditation

Keep giving energy to your dreams! Take care of yourself! You’re building up great momentum! Results are coming in at a high speed! You have so many great things coming your way! You are so blessed! Don’t give up that thought of things working out for you. They actually are. Doubt and fear is not allowed in your space. You are only going upwards! One day you’ll look back and be THANKFUL that you kept pushing forward. You’ll be thankful that you kept growing. Reaching that place is making the choice today to keep going no matter what kind of adversities or challenges you face. Don’t let your current situation make you feel hopeless. Remember that one time you were at a low point, and you made it through? Well, you can do it again! Don’t get caught up in this moment and forget your strength. The reason why we have all these experiences, is not only to get the lessons, but to become stronger. We’re made to survive, adapt, change, and transform ourselves. Don’t hold on to things longer than their stay. Be open to newness, even if it doesn’t make sense at the moment.

Most of our pain comes from fear of change, because we want what’s familiar. We have difficulties in letting go, because we want to force everything to be the same. The beautiful thing about life is that the moment we let go of what weighs heavy on us, we find new inspiration to continue on. We get a second chance. The best way to get out of a negative cycle is to start working on your thoughts, before you work on the outside. Listen the predominate thoughts you have; that will give you insight to what you’ve been attracting. Shift your thoughts to the outcome you want. Be more patient with yourself. Always know and believe that you will be okay. That everything is just fine. You’ve survived before, you’ll survive again.

Buddhism | The Empty Boat

Lesson from a Monk | The Empty Boat …

A monk decided to meditate alone, away from his monastery.
He took his boat out to the middle of the lake, moored it there, closed his eyes and began meditating. After a few hours of undisturbed silence, he suddenly felt the bump of another boat colliding with his own.

With his eyes still closed, he felt his anger rising, and by the time he opened his eyes, he was ready to scream at the boatman who had so carelessly disturbed his meditation. But when he opened his eyes, he was surprised to find that it was an empty boat that had struck his own. It had probably gotten untethered and floated to the middle of the lake.

At that moment, the monk had a great realization.

If a man is crossing the river and an empty boat collides with his own skiff, even if he is not a bad tempered man, he will not get angry, but if he sees a man on the boat, he will shout at him to steer clear, if the shout is not heard, he will shout again, and yet again and begin cursing, and all because there is somebody in the boat, yet if the boat were empty he would be shouting and not angry, if you can empty your own boat, crossing the river of the world, no one will oppose you, no one will seek to harm you.

Lāʻau Lāpaʻau | Clinical Efficacy of Bitter Orange Aromatherapy for Premenstrual Syndrome

Crooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs's avatarCrooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) affects up to 40% of reproductive-age women worldwide. PMS symptoms include irritability, depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, and bloating in the days before menstruation begins. Bitter orange (Citrus × Aurantium, Rutaceae) has traditionally been used as a carminative, antiemetic, antidepressant, anxiolytic, analgesic, and sedative and to treat headache, inflammation, insomnia, and uterine prolapse. Previous clinical studies have shown aromatherapy with essential oils (EO) from bitter orange flowers can reduce stress and menopausal symptoms in postmenopausal women and reduce pain and anxiety in women in labor. The purpose of this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was to evaluate the effects of bitter orange EO aromatherapy on PMS symptoms in young women.

The trial was conducted at the Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in Shiraz, Iran from March 2016 to February 2017 with female medical students from the university. Participants were included if they had moderate to severe PMS symptoms (scores…

Lāʻau Lāpaʻau | Cannabis and the Incidence of Psychotic Disorder – A Multi-cohort Study

Crooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs's avatarCrooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs

While cannabis (Cannabis sativa, Cannabaceae) prohibition is being discarded by many nations, epidemiological studies and biological evidence continue to report links between its use and psychotic disorder (PD). A meta-analysis reported a dose-response link, with the highest risks of PD among people with heaviest cannabis use. It is unclear whether cannabis use affects the incidence of PD. It is often used by individuals to self-treat psychiatric symptoms, as is also seen with other drugs and alcohol.

The European Network of National Schizophrenia Networks Studying Gene-Environment Interactions (EU-GEI; May 1, 2010 – May 1, 2015) sought to identify genetic, clinical, and environmental factors involved in the development, severity, and outcome of psychosis. As part of the EU-GEI, the authors describe differences in cannabis use across sites, identify measures of use with the strongest impact on PD rates across sites (assuming causality), calculate the population attributable fraction (PAF) for patterns…

Hello and good morning to all you good people.  We are half way through the work week.  Keep moving forward, play time is almost here.  Have a beautiful day.

Daily Meditation

You are not a solid. You are a vibration. You are an energy field that has connections to absolutely all other energy fields in the universe. You are connected to them through a series of orders of magnitude and, shall we say, reality, that are understandable only from the larger viewpoint.

Many times within the life experience you will not be able to see how a certain situation could possibly be one in which love abides. But this is always the question to turn to, that one offered by the ones of Ra:

“Where is the love in this moment?”

This is a question that is always productive, that one may ask the self in a crux in the present. And by finding where the love lies for you in this moment and placing yourself there, there is how you affect the future. You are choosing what you desire because you desire it. That is understood, but in terms of responding to that which is given you have the skill and you have the chance at each offering to ask the self, “Where is the metaphysical structure of this moment? What speaks to me from a larger point of view that really informs the situation for me?”
