With its bright green stalks and vibrant, lavender-pink and spiky blossoms, chives are a lovely ornamental plant and herb garden staple. Found fresh in the yard in summer and dried in cupboards in the cooler months of fall and winter, chives hold surprising medicinal and nutritional benefits. A member of the Amaryllidaceae family {Amaryllis}, which includes familiar alliums garlic and onions, chives have a mild and pleasant onion-garlic flavor.
Chives have played a role in medicine and protection for more than 5,000 years. The ancient Romans used chives to relieve sore throats, lower blood pressure, and increase urination, while Traditional Chinese Medicine turned to it for coughs, colds, and congestion. In the Middle Ages, it was a popular remedy for melancholy.
A traditional Romani custom was to use chives in fortune telling and to hang them in the home to ward off disease and evil influences. Planting chives in the…
Impermanent are all compounded things. When one perceives this with true insight, then one becomes detached from suffering; this is the path of purification.

Are you fantasizing about starting a garden this year but not sure where to begin? Not to worry! There are many ways to participate in the gardening resurgence even if you don’t know the first thing about soil science, pollinators, or the difference between the 50 tomatoes to choose from on the seed rack at your local gardening store. Here are a few tips to get you started on your gardening journey.
Depending on your access to gardening space (tiny apartment or sprawling country farmhouse), free time, and available resources (how much money do you want to spend on this new gardening hobby anyway), you may want to start small or dig up your whole front yard and join the Food Not Lawns movement. All gardeners are welcome to the gardening club. As a start, I’m a big fan of growing sprouts in the kitchen as well as a…
Sun is moved into Gemini yesterday, the third sign of the zodiac. Gemini is ruled by Mercury, the messenger planet, who is also moved into Gemini. 💫
Gemini has the twin energy which is dual and airy energy. So now is a great time for communication and everything that has to do with speaking, writing and also marketing. 💫
Gemini does not like to be stuck in one place and like to move around a lot. Short trips, vehicles and electronic devices are also connected to Gemini. You might acquire new things of such nature now. This can also bring an energy of indecisiveness and multi-tasking, so take the time to slow down every once in a while. 💫
Gemini is also connected to social media and we can see more interest and activity in this area of life. Gemini is all about connecting and socializing which makes this month more extroverted.
This is another journaling exercise that works in tandem with Na Mahalo ‘Elima … This week, write down the things that bug you. These can be big things or small things. Write WHY these things annoy or frustrate you, then write HOW you will act when faced with these irritations. Visualization is a powerful tool to overcoming bad habits and strengthening character.
To touch someone with kindness is to change someone forever. Heavy, huh? That’s nothing …
Because for everyone you touch, you also reach everyone they will ever know. And everyone they will ever know. And everyone they will ever know. And so, for the rest of all time, your kindness will be felt, in waves that will spread, long after you move on.

Generosity, kind words, doing a good turn for others, and treating all people alike: these bonds of sympathy are to the world what the linchpin is to the chariot wheel.
Jātaka 20 Gemstones of the Good Dhamma, compiled and translated by Ven. S. Dhammika
Now more than ever, we need more sunshine, fresh air, clean water, and to nourish our cells with powerful phytonutrients that strengthen our ability to adapt and thrive as we are exposed to stress, toxins, and virulent pathogens in our environment. Did you know that being outside, getting sunshine, and breathing fresh air (particularly humid air) is one of the best medicines against acute respiratory viruses? Being in a hospital on a respirator, as much as it may be a necessity for some, is far from creating an optimal environment for healing. Speaking of fresh air, did you know that our environment is cleaning up like never imagined because of COVID-19? Yes! It’s true. Los Angeles, which normally has some of the poorest air quality in the world, now has clean air, and on April 21st, 2020, it saw some of the cleanest air of any major city…

Esoteric interpretation of name: life cycle, cycle of the sun.
Ideographic interpretation: the holy marriage of heaven A and earth v, or the dynamic rotation of the summer-winter cycle.
Today’s message:Realize that you are part of the cyclical nature of the Universe, and you can work with this nature to manifest your material desires.
I’ve finally done it and I have gone ahead and and posted my first vlog… I went back and forth with it for a few days now and ultimately decided to just do it! That’s the first st […]
Phonetic value: a final grammatical Z, which eventually developed into the final R of Old Norse.
Esoteric interpretation of name: protective force, valkyrjur.
Ideographic interpretation: the horns of the elk, the branches (and roots) of the tree, a swan in flight, or a splayed hand. COMMENTARY: This rune is historically perhaps the most complex of all from a symbological perspective. A unified ideological complex does rise to the surface once its secrets are penetrated.
Today’s Message:You are in a protected grove or enclosure dedicated to the gods. Feel the connection between the gods and all of humanity that allows you to trip the Light fantastic.
Lore of the Elder Futhark 49 The Proto-Germanic form algiz means “protection,” and its stave form is perhaps derived from the basic sign of defense and protection: the splayed hand. The concept of the valkyrjur also has been connected to this stave through the interpretation of the name as “swan.” The valkyrjur are protective, life-giving beings who often fly by means of magical cloaks made of swan feathers. These beings are protectors, power givers, and a mode by which 6dhinn communicates with his chosen heroes. the sign: t : is often found carved into spears for protection and victory. Elhaz, meaning “elk,” refers to the four cosmic harts that constantly bite at the needles of the world-tree. The yew again comes into the symbol complex of this rune with the Old Norse word i(h)war, which occurs only in runic inscriptions. This term means either “yew tree” or “yew bow” and is later rendered by the word yr and the stave form: -+-:. This form is an alternate of the usual: t : and in fact they are probably derived from a primal form: :t : found in the Futhark of Charnay. This oldest form displays the tree symbolism quite graphically. The Gothic word alhs (sanctuary) has been related to this rune as well. This is a protected grove or enclosure dedicated to the gods. The Z-rune contains an aspect of the protective power of the divine twins. Alcis, the name of the twins reported by Tacitus in the Germania, may indeed be related to the rune name. Ideographically, the divine twins were sometimes represented as being joined at the head, rather like the primal form of the rune (see Figure 2.3). In their aggressive, warlike aspect, the twins are visualized as harts, while in other aspects they are represented as horses (see E-rune). Elhaz is the power of human life and “spirit” striving toward the world of. the AEsir. Figure 2.3. Divine twins, from the rock carving of Rylandl Tanum. 123%65 / 174
