Best Ayurvedic Tips for Weight Loss

Obesity is one of the most dreaded lifestyle ailments today and is spreading like an epidemic all across the world. Owing to slavery to the taste buds and lethargic living conditions, being obese and overweight is affecting all age groups and either sex. The main problem with weight gain is that not only does it affect the confidence and mental stability of the obese person (making him easy target to mockery), overweight and obesity lays foundation of many other serious diseases. No doubt, weight loss is much sought after by one and all.

Weight Loss in Ayurvedic Dosha TypesAccording to Ayurveda philosophy, Kapha type of individual (having more of water and earth in their constitution) is more likely to gain weight easily. Although, the Vata types having more of air and ether, would generally be skinny and devoid of much fat. The fire types or Pitta dosha personalities who are generally gifted with proportional body weight, could be gaining weight just in case they lose their balance.

In the case of weight gain or obesity, it is believed that the Kapha dosha gets accumulated which further slows down the fat metabolism and leads to the disease of obesity. Therefore, Ayurveda believes that of the three basic dosha types, those people who have more of Kaha dosha in their system generally have a low BMR and gain weight easily. Thus, for weight loss, the Kapha types need to be more strict and careful with themselves both in the terms of diet intake and undertaking exercise routine.

Ayurveda ~ A Spiritual Quest

Dear Friends,

The supreme levels of vitality and happiness cannot be achieved by common pursuits of health and healing.

Extraordinary experiences are rarely born out of ordinary activity. The deepest layers of vitality, energy and beauty must be generated in an exalted and unconventional fashion.

Thousands of years ago, the great sages of Ayurveda and Yoga unlocked this profound science. They codified the secrets of radiance and taught the highly sophisticated spiritual technology that tune the body and mind to the frequencies of prosperity, clarity and happiness.

Like a marvelous musical instrument, the body and mind can be tuned to the harmonic frequencies of joy, health and love.

Unfortunately, too many of us unconsciously attune ourselves to the disharmonic wavelengths of anxiety, depression and insecurity.

The Radiant Body Course will thoroughly transform you from the inside out. It is more than a course, it is an experiential quest for the hidden powers of awakening and profound bliss. Enjoy the video.

Sat Nam,

glistening roseThe chakra teachings are very profound…yet, they can also be very simple:

How your mind operates on a daily basis is largely determined by where your life-force is concentrated within your body.

When this pranic life-force is excessively concentrated in the lower centers of the psyche, the mind tends to be emotional and commotional. Regardless of your better intentions, you struggle to overcome old and destructive habits. Lower instincts dominate our behavior.

In this day and age, if we are left to our ‘default settings’, the prana tends to concentrate excessively in these lower centers. Thus, the vast majority of human beings are operating from an emotional/commotional energetic space, pulled by the tide of the status quo, mesmerized by the pleasures of normalcy.

On the other hand, if the prana is able to lift and distribute itself throughout your being, the mind is able to operate from intelligence, intuition and guidance. It is as if you’ve activated an internal GPS system of the soul.

You begin to project a brightness that carries you. The lower instincts are guided by an elevated intelligence. You organically move in the direction of your higher destiny and your organism is filled with a deep sense of somatic bliss.

When the pranic environment transforms, it’s as if you are viewing the world through an entirely new and vast lens.

Problems that used to seem enormous, are now simply insignificant. What used to throw you off your rocker no longer has the strength to bother you. Everything changes, and life becomes supremely enjoyable.

Click below to watch the second video in our training series, and begin to experience the realm of the heightened pranic environment.

Ayurveda ~ The Divine Projection

Everybody is projecting something to those around them. Everyone has a presence that communicates to their environment.

In each and every moment you are creating a unique projection, and therefore a unique attraction.

We now know that there are three magnetic powers of the human being that will either give you energy, radiance and bliss…or those same powers can produce anxiety, anger and depression.

Whatever is happening inside is what is ultimately projecting outside. Your beauty, your radiance and your prosperity can expand. It is completely within your capacity.

In the latest video of our series, I unpack the science of pranic projection, the heightened expression of the elements, and the profound gravity of the heart center.

Ayurveda ~ Cultivating the Power of True Beauty

The pathway to beauty, prosperity and vitality are interwoven paths.

Unfortunately, far too many people are depleting their vitality in an attempt to create a sense of beauty. True beauty, true magnetism and true prosperity require vitality.

However, this is not an ordinary type of vitality. It’s a vitality that draws out the strength of your character, it draws out your virtures, it draws out your radiance.

This attractive power is profound. The first person that will be attracted to you is YOU.

When you experience your own magnetic power, the entire creation starts to become attracted to you. Opportunities arise from every direction and a steady stream of prosperity flows into the ocean of your life.

Yesterday, we released a brand new free video training that unpacks the art and science of beauty, prosperity and radiance.  Follow the link below to get access. Enjoy the teachings.

Oil Pulling 101: 10 Tips To Making It Work

Oil pulling is an ancient Ayruveda holistic dental care method that involves nothing more than swishing cold-pressed oil in your mouth for a certain amount of time. Sounds simple, right? It also sounds a little, well, strange. Maybe even totally gross. I get it. I thought the same thing. But I’m always open for trying new home remedies so I’ve been giving it a try for the past few weeks. Here’s what I’ve learned!

The idea behind oil pulling, as well as the name itself, is that swishing with the oil helps “pull” toxins from your system as you pull the oil through your teeth and gums. The oils typically used are coconut, olive or sesame oil. That part seems to be a matter of personal preference. I’ve been using coconut oil since I already use it for everything, and my cupboard is already well stocked. It also shows anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties. Plus, I’m bit of a coconut fiend and love the way it tastes.

Oil pulling regimen

  • Place 1-3 teaspoons oil in your mouth.
  • Swish and “pull” the oil around the inside of your cheeks and in between your teeth.
  • Continue for 5-20 minutes.

I’ve had issues with my teeth, gums and jaw since having children, so I knew I was a good candidate for trying this out. And the first time I tried it, it felt strange I’ll admit. And that 20 minutes felt like an eternity! It was also difficult not to swallow any. But swallowing the oil is a big no-no – the oil is full of toxins, bacteria and germs. But it gets easier! Here’s what I found to be helpful as I do this daily.

10 Tips for Making Oil Pulling Work

  1. Start first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
  2. If using coconut oil, melt it first, or let it melt in your mouth. I sort of “chew” it until it melts.
  3. Use less oil if it feels like it’s too much.
  4. Keep the oil in the front of your mouth – don’t gargle with it. You will have a mouthful of liquid by the end from the oil and the extra saliva.
  5. If your mouth and jaw get tired, take a break and let it sit without swishing in the front of your mouth.
  6. Try doing a small task that takes between 5-20 minutes – folding a load of laundry, taking a shower, checking emails, packing your kids’ lunches, vacuuming the living room, etc.
  7. Be sure to do it long enough so that the oil and the enzymes in your saliva interact.
  8. Spit the oil into the garbage can, not in the sink to prevent it from clogging pipes.
  9. Swish really well with salt water afterward.
  10. Brush your teeth and floss as normal. (I use a homemade toothpaste.)

Benefits I’ve noticed

  • My gums feel healthier and they don’t get sore anymore.
  • My teeth feel stronger. I noticed after just the first few days – really!
  • Much better breath.
  • Less plaque.
  • My tongue feels cleaner.
  • My lips are super soft!
  • My jaw pain has lessened a lot. I’m pretty sure I have TMJ. The first few days my mouth and jaw felt super fatigued afterward, but now my entire face feel stronger. This may be more from the extra “exercise” than the oil itself. 🙂

In addition to the benefits I’ve already seen, oil pulling has tons of other reported benefits.

More oil pulling benefits

  • reduced headaches, insomnia, PMS, sinus congestion
  • general detoxification benefits
  • overall increased oral health
  • reduced inflammation in the body, including reduction of arthritis symptoms
  • pain relief
  • skin problems (eczema, acne, rashes) reduced

Bottom line for me

I love the benefits I’ve seen so far and plan to continue. What do you think? Is it too weird? Or are you wiling to give it a try? For those of you who have tried it, what benefits have you noticed?
