H.P. Blavatsky ~ The Number Seven In Chemistry

Image

To demonstrate more clearly the seven in Nature, it may be added that not only does the number seven govern the periodicity of the phenomena of life, but that it is also found dominating the series of chemical elements, and equally paramount in the world of sound and in that of colour as revealed to us by the spectroscope. This number is the factor, sine qua non, in the production of occult astral phenomena.

Thus, if the chemical elements are arranged in groups according to their atomic weights, they will be found to constitute a series of groups of seven; the first, second, etc., members of each group bearing a close analogy in all their properties to the corresponding members of the next group. The following table, copied from Hellenbach’s Magie der Zahlen, exhibits this law and fully warrants the conclusion he draws in the following words: “We thus see that chemical variety, so far as we can grasp its inner nature, depends upon numerical relations, and we have further found in this variety a ruling law for which we can assign no cause; we find a law of periodicity governed by the number seven.”

chem table

The eighth column in this list is, as it were, the octave of the first, containing elements almost identical in chemical and other properties with those in the first; a phenomenon which accentuates the septenary law of periodicity. For further details the reader is referred to Hellenbach’s work, where it is also shown that this classification is confirmed by the spectroscopic peculiarities of the elements.

It is needless to refer in detail to the number of vibrations constituting the notes of the musical scale; they are strictly analogous to the scale of chemical elements, and also to the scale of colour as unfolded by the spectroscope, although in the latter case we deal with only one octave, while both in music and chemistry we find a series of seven octaves represented theoretically, of which six are fairly complete and in ordinary use in both sciences. Thus, to quote Hellenbach:    “It has been established that, from the standpoint of phenomenal law, upon which all our knowledge rests, the vibrations of sound and light increase regularly, that they divide themselves into seven columns, and that the successive numbers in each column are closely allied; i.e., that they exhibit a close relationship which not only is expressed in the figures themselves, but also is practically confirmed in chemistry as in music, in the latter of which the ear confirms the verdict of the figures. . . . . . The fact that this periodicity and variety is governed by the number seven is undeniable, and it far surpasses the limits of mere chance, and must be assumed to have an adequate cause, which cause must be discovered.”

Verily, then, as Rabbi Abbas said: “We are six lights which shine forth from a seventh (light); thou (Tetragrammaton) art the seventh light (the origin) of us all;” (V. 1,160) and – “For assuredly there is no stability in those six, save what they derive from the seventh. For ALL THINGS DEPEND FROM THE SEVENTH.” (V. 1,161. Kabala, “The Greater Holy Assembly.”)

The (ancient and modern) Western American Zuñi Indians seem to have entertained similar views. Their present-day customs, their traditions and records, all point to the fact that, from time immemorial, their institutions – political, social and religious – were (and still are) shaped according to the septenary principle. Thus all their ancient towns and villages were built in clusters of six, around a seventh. It is always a group of seven, or of thirteen, and always the six surround the seventh. Again, their sacerdotal hierarchy is composed of six “Priests of the House” seemingly synthesized in the seventh, who is a woman, the “PRIESTESS MOTHER.” Compare this with the “seven great officiating priests” spoken of in Anugîtâ, the name given to the “seven senses,” exoterically, and to the seven human principles, esoterically. Whence this identity of symbolism? Shall we still doubt the fact of Arjuna going over to Pâtâla (the Antipodes, America) and there marrying Ulûpi, the daughter of the Nâga (or rather Nargal) King? But to the Zuñi priests.

These receive an annual tribute, to this day, of corn of seven colours. Undistinguished from other Indians during the whole year, on a certain day, they come out (the six priests and one priestess) arrayed in their priestly robes, each of a colour sacred to the particular God whom the priest serves and personifies; each of them representing one of the seven regions, and each receiving corn of the colour corresponding to that region. Thus, the white represents the East, because from the East comes the first Sun-light; the yellow, corresponds to the North, from the colour of the flames produced by the aurora borealis; the red, the South, as from that quarter comes the heat; the blue stands for the West, the colour of the Pacific Ocean, which lies to the West; black is the colour of the nether underground region – darkness; corn with grains of all colours on one ear represents the colours of the upper region – of the firmament, with its rosy and yellow clouds, shining stars, etc. The “speckled” corn – each grain containing all the colours – is that of the “Priestess-Mother”: woman containing in herself the seeds of all races past, present and future; Eve being the mother of all living.

Apart from these was the Sun – the Great Deity – whose priest was the spiritual head of the nation. These facts were ascertained by Mr. F. Hamilton Cushing, who, as many are aware, became an Indian Zuñi, lived with them, was initiated into their religious mysteries, and has learned more about them than any other man now living.

Seven is also the great magic number. In the occult records the weapon mentioned in the Purânas and the Mahabhârata – the Agneyâstra or “fiery weapon” bestowed by Aurva upon his chela Sagara – is said to be built of seven elements. This weapon – supposed by some ingenious Orientalists to have been a “rocket” (!) – is one of the many thorns in the side of our modern Sanskritists. Wilson exercises his penetration over it, on several pages in his Specimens of the Hindu Theatre, and finally fails to explain it. He can make nothing out of the Agneyâstra.

“These weapons,” he argues, “are of a very unintelligible character. Some of them are wielded as missiles; but, in general, they appear to be mystical powers exercised by the individual – such as those of paralysing an enemy, or locking his senses fast in sleep, or bringing down storm, and rain, and fire, from heaven. (Vide supra, pp. 427 and 428.) . . . . They assume celestial shapes, endowed with human faculties. . . . . The Râmâyana calls them the Sons of Krisâswa” (p. 297).

The Sastra-devatâs, “gods of the divine weapons,” are no more Agneyâstra, the weapon, than the gunners of modern artillery are the cannon they direct. But this simple solution did not seem to strike the eminent Sanskritist. Nevertheless, as he himself says of the armiform progeny of Krisâswa, “the allegorical origin of the (Agneyâstra)  weapons is, undoubtedly, the more ancient.” 1 It is the fiery javelin of Brahmâ.

The seven-fold Agneyâstra, like the seven senses and the “seven principles,” symbolized by the seven priests, are of untold antiquity. How old is the doctrine believed in by Theosophists, the following section will tell.
—-

1 It is. But Agneyâstra are fiery “missile weapons,” not “edged” weapons, as there is some difference between Sastra and Astra in Sanskrit.

#3          Zhun      Sprouting

Above:   KAN       Precipice, Danger

Below :  ZHEN      Arouse, excite, inspire

The Wisdom:

The beginning of a new cycle has arrived.
It wears no disguise.
It is real, tender, delicate and vulnerable.
A seed that was conceived and planted by your care and creativity in your life plan has been lying fallow and you have been waiting to see if agreements will be make to make this seed come to flower. You need wait no longer, the seed is pushing its way through the hard earth moving obstacles aside and is reaching the light of the sun. With this new beginning of a project that came about because of your belief in yourself comes excitement laced with the struggle to leave judgment and what is perceived as conventional behind.. Like many new ventures the way forward is not showing in clarity, which is proper at this moment in time. It is now for you to feel it. It is this lack of clear vision that is causing some confusion as to how to move forward and what or who to let go of and decide what will stay to be nurtured and protected in this cycle of new growth. Do not let your fears and doubts take you off track. Muster all your energies and call on your hidden strengths, they are there and will be accessed through using and trusting your intuition, the true voice of your heart and soul.
There has been a confluence of energies that has caused the situation to show in early growth. Your hopes, skills and desires have joined together to awaken and bring to life this new growth cycle. Protect this delicate and vulnerable beginning by gathering your strength through a rigid examination of the truth. This new cycle has begun because of your past hard work and your having, knowingly or not, let go of expectations.
That is the magic of creation; no expectations. Therefore you did not cloud your vision by projecting a future outcome. This is what has supplied the fertile field for this seed of an idea, process or relationship to open to new growth. As you gather your forces look deep into the areas of your being where you are most self-confident. From this point of view you can tap into the voice of your inner wisdom; your intuition.Intuition is a gateway to the divine. In trusting this voice you are open to receiving Universal guidance. You can call this source what you will. You can identify the voice as a guide, a teacher or angels; whatever name you give it, it is here for you now, to tune in and to listen. If you feel confused, gather your courage, dip into your inner sage or reach out to a wise person in your tribe to assist in sorting out the messages.  Once you make the approach, be dignified and respectful: listen and act on what you hear and what your heart knows as your truth.
Thunder and rain
Are coming simultaneously.
It is loud and difficult to hear;
Listen to the thunder
And seek shelter from the rain.
With new growth come unfamiliar risks. Mate your courage and your intuition. Pause for a moment of reflection and then make your move. Many things are in disarray around you. Friendships, relationships and the inner workings of your community and tribe are all trying to find their balancing point. Let them be and do not try to fix anything; you have new growth to attend to.
While digging deep into your intuitive self, these situations will reconcile without your interference. In fact, were you to step away from this new growth to deal with the confusion, you would keep these situations from finding their natural order and this new cycle, that brings with it the potential of strength and abundance, would diminish and likely disappear.Stand your ground now, make your movements with confidence and kindness. There will surely be obstacles showing on your path, but these are temporary, like a thunderstorm: it comes, shakes the earth, and then goes, leaving moist, fertile ground that has been prepared to birth the new.In humility, see your place between earth and heaven and realize that with this cycle comes the nourishment of your inner being and a long awaited evolution of spirit and self. Align with the greater good for all, including yourself, and the way will be made clear and imbued with a great and deep breadth of knowledge.
You are experiencing the birth of something new, however difficult and dangerous a birth it may be, it is the birth of a new perspective and a new way of thinking that will allow you to persevere and succeed. Perseverance in facing the coming storm of activity will deliver abundance and joy, which will lead to a brilliant completion. In business, find the gifted helpers to work with and advise you. In your personal relationships communicate openly and with a fresh approach to the truth you see and feel. Open your eyes to the love that stands before you that is without agenda or guile Leave denial and doubt by the wayside and freely take council with trusted friends or teachers, listen to what your heart is saying. In this way you are protecting the vulnerability of this new way, this new plan, with understanding gained from experiencing your own vulnerability.  This will lead you to the delicate path within where love resides.

You are certain to find some struggle with this juxtaposition of major forces in your life, this struggle comes with the meeting of the light and dark forces. The forces of light will open you to a loving sense of self, while the dark forces will use the ego to attempt to take you off this path of evolution. This is an important phase in the grand scheme of things.

Hold to the truth that comes from your inner knowing. This is your intuition, which is your connection to Universal truth. It is this truth that will carry you to a higher level of knowledge, insight and success. The problems and obstacles you are encountering will be brief. Let them run their course, and then make your move.

This time may well be felt as a great inner passage and it is, it will require diligence and patience, patience with yourself; what comes easily usually doesn’t last. Your magic will be found in your ability to make a relationship with the difficulties and disassemble them from the inside out.  In this way what has sprouted will grow and bring with it maturity in emotions, relationship and spirit. Your trust in your intuition is made stronger by taking action on what you feel and hear. This cycle is here to bring healing to you, your family and tribe.   By your taking action it will be felt and activated and you will join with like souls around the earth and bring harmony and peace to our entire non-geographical tribe as we prepare the way for a new golden age of peace and prosperity for all.

Many Blessings

In La’Kesh.

(‘Brother Square-Toes’—Rewards and Fairies)

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

    But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,

Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,

And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;

    If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

    And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings

    And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

    If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,

Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,

And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Veda Means “Life”

Image

In Sanskrit, the word Veda means life. The Vedic tradition of knowledge, which is often referred to as Vedanta, deals with the meaning of life, the purpose of life, and the place of life in the universe as a whole. According to Vedanta, there are two symptoms of enlightenment. They are indications that a transformation is taking place within you toward a higher level of consciousness …

SEEDS FOR MEDITATION ~ 10 Things To Be Grateful For

Image

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.

Grace and gratitude have the same Latin root, gratus. Whenever we find ourselves in a stop-the-world-I-want-to-get-off mindset, we can remember that there is another way and open ourselves to grace. And it often starts with taking a moment to be grateful for this day, for being alive, for anything.

Exercise:  once a day, list ten things you’re grateful for and count them out on your fingers. Try it this week.

JIVA AND SELF-GENERATION – I

THE ONE RAY MULTIPLIES THE SMALLER RAYS. LIFE PRECEDES FORM, AND LIFE SURVIVES THE LAST ATOM (of Form, Sthula-sarira, external body). THROUGH THE COUNTLESS RAYS THE LIFE-RAY, THE ONE, LIKE A THREAD THROUGH MANY BEADS (pearls).  ~ The Secret Doctrine, i 222

The archaic Stanzas of Dzyan present a symbolic statement of the archetypal process of becoming throughout all planes and in all spheres of manifestation. It is none other than that through which the One becomes the many while remaining the One within the many. At the highest level of abstraction, surpassing both subtle and sensory perceptions, as well as all the conceptions of the materializing mind, the one pure Ray of primordial Light out of the absolute Darkness is said to multiply the smaller rays. This is a symbolic representation of the quintessential logic of differentiation, the logic of divine descent and manvantaric manifestation. There is in this fundamental logic a mirroring of the miraculous nature of birth on every plane. Gestation and growth on every plane is rooted in the universal solidarity of all life. That solidarity is much more than a physical fact or a psychic sentiment. It is a moral and metaphysical framework within which takes place all transformation of form and consciousness.

The symbolic code language of Gupta Vidya contains the fundamental challenge of Divine Wisdom to modern thought. Through elaboration and ramification, modern thought has created a vast conceptual structure of explanation and thus unravelled many secondary processes of causation. Yet, at the same time, modern thought cannot explain so basic a phenomenon as how a foetus emerges and develops from a single minute cell. Despite all the popular cliches about the extension of life through genetic engineering, the fundamental mystery of the embryo remains. Similarly, modern thought has little to say about the metaphysical mystery of the One or the psychological mystery of the Ego. In all three, there is the same challenge. The mystery of the One is a challenge of metaphysics and meditation. In meditating, one gathers within oneself all the many rays, archetypally collected into the primary seven and then merged into one central invisible point. Through repeated effort, one can thus experience something of that state of consciousness which is prior to differentiation. This is an experience of the metaphysical Void, but it is different from the experience of deep sleep because one retains full self-consciousness.

The challenge is to imagine what it would be like in the Divine Darkness, where there is no thing and no forms. Then one must imagine that within the germ of divine thought within the Divine Darkness there may arise one ray of ideational energy which contains the potentiality of the entire cosmos. From that one ray one must imagine an entire ordered array of progressive elaborations and manifestations. This is symbolized in the language of the Kabbalah by the phrase “thrones, powers and principalities”. These refer to all the subtle hosts of invisible Nature. In meditation one must reach beyond all of them to the One. Then one will be able to accommodate all these thrones and powers and principalities, the manifold hierarchies involved in multiplication of the one ray, within the folds of hebdomadic and unitary life. Although this is a challenge to metaphysics, it can only be met through deep meditation.

The mystery of the one Ego was intimated by Plato, who said that the human soul was a compound of the same and the other. This is the mystery of that which is different from, yet consubstantial with, that which it reflects. This mystery poses a profound challenge to one’s deepest sense of “I-am-I” consciousness. At the root, “I-am-I” consciousness involves a total negation of all time and form, and of all identification with memories, sensations, expectations and anticipations. It can also abstract from all that exists in the realm of appearances and thus experience pure being, which is indivisible and universal. How, then, is “I-am-I” consciousness different from Deity itself? That is, one might say, the ultimate mystery of the Sphinx, the riddle that has to be unravelled by each human soul, not in sleep or dreams and not after death, but through intense reflection in waking consciousness. This abstraction of meaning from experience must be achieved through introspection, through identification with other hearts and minds and souls, and also through the intimate knowledge of all the life-atoms that ceaselessly circulate between all beings. The soul must acquire a working acquaintance with the pantheistic conception of Deity in Nature. To solve the problem of the Ego in its entirety is the fundamental challenge of meta-psychology.

Both of these problems – the problem of the One in relation to the many and the problem of the same and the other in relation to the “I-am-I” consciousness – are replicated and reflected within the mystery of the embryo, the foetus and the germinal cell. H.P. Blavatsky posed the challenge to biological thought by asking

whether it seems unnatural, least of all “supernatural”, to any one of us, when we consider that process known as the growth and development of a foetus into a healthy baby weighing several pounds – evolves from what? From the segmentation of an infinitesimally small ovum and a spermatozoon; and afterwards we see that baby develop into a six-foot man!

Ibid., 222

The mysteries of embryology are inseparable from those of cosmology. The philosophy of Gupta Vidya is fundamentally based upon the ultimate analogy in every process of manifestation between the most cosmic and the most atomic, between the divine and the human. Hence, the Stanzas of Dzyan, in depicting the origin of the cosmos, contain innumerable references to Hiranyagarbha – the cosmic egg. They speak of the primeval gestation within the waters of space, and explain how the entire spectrum of worlds emerges from a point in the germ to yield manifestation as we know it. These cosmological processes are truly difficult to comprehend, for they raise fundamental questions which cannot be answered merely through some pious reference to the heavens or through intellectual imagery. Unfortunately, this is all that pseudo-religious and pseudo-philosophic traditions have done, and they have therefore failed to answer the challenges of universal cosmogenesis and anthropogenesis. If one grasped the integrity of the universal processes that give rise both to Nature and Man, then one would understand that these questions are no easier to answer than parallel questions about the human body and physical birth. Since Deity, Man and Nature are philosophically inseparable, one cannot comprehend the origin of the cosmos, the origin of humanity or the birth of a single baby independently of each other. One needs to regain a sense of wonder that something so infinitesimally small as an initial germinal cell can give rise to a full-grown human being.

H.P. Blavatsky proceeded to develop and sharpen the mysteries which embryology poses by crediting modern thought with an approximate understanding of

the atomic and physical expansion from the microscopically small into something very large, from the – to the naked eye – unseen, into the visible and objective. Science has provided for all this; and, I dare say, her theories, embryological, biological, and physiological, are correct enough so far as exact observation of the material goes. Nevertheless, the two chief difficulties of the science of embryology – namely, what are the forces at work in the formation of the foetus, and the cause of “hereditary transmission” of likeness, physical, moral or mental – have never been properly answered; nor will they ever be solved till the day when scientists condescend to accept the Occult theories.

Ibid., 222-223

If, in other words, one wishes to give a systematic account of the process of immense expansion that goes on in the development of the foetus, one must have a knowledge of different planes and subplanes of matter, mind and consciousness. One must also develop an account of the interactions of these agencies and forces during the different stages of the development of the foetus, and give a philosophically coherent account of the processes of transmission of likeness, through which active forces promote actual growth. In commenting upon one of the more intuitive developments of nineteenth century biology, H.P. Blavatsky praised Professor Weissmann and his view of the ancestral germ-cell operating on the physical plane. She made a vital distinction between this physical plasm and a spiritual plasm. If one accepts the notion of an ancestral germinal cell which is through its very substance the agent of transmission over an immense period of time, then one must ask at what point man becomes endowed with that cell. Suggesting the metaphysical mystery of Jiva or cosmic life-energy, she stated:

Complete the physical plasm…the “Germinal Cell” of man with all its material potentialities, with the “spiritual plasm”, so to say, or the fluid that contains the five lower principles of the six-principled Dhyan – and you have the secret, if you are spiritual enough to understand it.

Ibid., 224

Such fundamental questions cannot be answered on the basis of inductive methods and within the confining categories of modern thought. No experimental science, however systematic and complicated, can penetrate the ontology of the process of becoming. A poet or mystic, using metaphors, can often come much closer to invoking a sense of the mystery of that process, as, for example, when Rupert Brooke wrote, “Dateless and deathless…the intricate impulse works its will.” Poetic intuition intimates something intrinsic and inherent to the life process, something that is extremely fertile, extremely complex and intelligent, yet unerringly precise. The vision of mystics and poets touches that which is beginningless and endless in life, that which eludes all categories, formulas and equations.

Glossary

Let us use with care those living messengers called words.
W. Q. JUDGE

JIVA (Sk.). Life, as the Absolute; the Monad also or Atma-Buddhi.

JIVANMUKTA (Sk.). An Adept or Yogi who has reached the ultimate state of holiness and separated himself from matter; a Mahatma, or Nirvanee, a “dweller in bliss” and emancipation. Virtually one who has reached Nirvana during life.

JIVATMA (Sk.). The ONE Universal Life, generally; but also the Divine Spirit in man.

WILL. In metaphysics and occult philosophy, Will is that which governs the manifested universes in eternity. Will is the one and sole principle of abstract eternal MOTION, or its ensouling essence. “The will”, says Van Helmont, “is the first of all powers…. The will is the property of all spiritual beings and displays itself in them the more actively the more they are freed from matter.” And Paracelsus teaches that “determined will is the beginning of all magical operations. It is because men do not perfectly imagine and believe the result, that the (occult) arts are so uncertain, while they might be perfectly certain.” Like all the rest, the Will is septenary in its degrees of manifestation. Emanating from the one, eternal, abstract and purely quiescent Will (Atma in Layam), it becomes Buddhi in its Alaya state, descends lower as Mahat (Manas), and runs down the ladder of degrees until the divine Eros becomes, in its lower, animal manifestation, erotic desire. Will as an eternal principle is neither spirit nor substance but everlasting ideation. As well expressed by Schopenhauer in his Parerga, “In sober reality there is neither matter nor spirit.

The Sun and The Moon

Image

The Sun and the Moon

In the Hermetic philosophy, the Sun has always been a symbol of a certain aspect of consciousness as it radiates outwards of it’s self. The sun can only shine and give outwards its potent rays of light and warmth. It cannot receive or take; it is not its nature, for it is only half and a part of the Oneness of being. The other aspect of consciousness is symbolized in the Moon as the feminine receptive nature of the unconscious mind. By herself she is dark and cold and is as a passive polarity compared to the active polarity of the Sun. Alchemically the Lunar nature is one of gathering inwards and nurturing, while the nature of the Sun is one of outpouring and expansive. The Sun, which is consciousness, and which is in itself a divine energy, sees himself in her reflection, while her darkness as the unconscious is warmed and made to shine with radiance. The Sun sees his reflection in the Moon. As Fulcanelli has said, “the moon secretly absorbs the rays of the Sun and nurtures them in her bosom”.

Metaphysically, the inner process of meditation and initiation is functioning on the very same principles. The conscious mind directing thought and concentration is as the Sun. The unconscious aspect of our being is as the moon and functions on a lunar level. The unconscious psychic energies within us must be warmed and kindled by the solar essence. This is that metaphysical insemination which the philosophers speak of when they say that “consciousness must inseminate the unconscious”. It is this act that brings to birth a third aspect of consciousness in our being, the luminous subjective self as the inner divine child. When one practices meditation, one can enter into the fertile feminine unconscious where one’s birthing of the inner divine child lies as the emerging inner self. One must first make the conscious effort of his or her active will power and concentration and act upon the passive energies of the unconscious. In turn the receptive and passive energies of the unconscious, nurtures and matures the divine seed of the Sun, or our “Gold”, as the alchemists like to call it. In this way, this feminine aspect becomes the mother of divinity in that she brings forth the Son of the Sun. This is that mystical love affair, that passion and divine union of the male and female seed that the philosophers speak of which begets the Philosopher’s Stone. The Sun and the moon as the Father and the Mother, now see themselves in the divine Son as the divine man. This is the true union of the bride and groom, the re-union of Adam and Eve and the mystical wedding of the alchemists.

As the King, so too our Alchemical Queen has her part in the alchemical process. It is a most beautiful event to behold the Sun through the feminine reflection as the Lunar Astral Light. Especially when she is pregnant and full. She is our most beautiful Diana. The alchemists have always spoken highly of her and expressed her beauty in most beautiful allegorical ways as the Lilly of the Valley and the White Rose of the whitening stage of the alchemical process. It is the “beholding of the most beautiful body of Diana stripped of all her terrestriality”. Thus the wife of the Sun becomes the very mother of our own rebirth, where consciousness becomes conscious of consciousness and we realises the source of a greater light coming from the Sun within us as the Father. But we never forget our mother the moon and her gentle nurturing. In this symbolism and allegory we see the Christian mystery of the Holy Virgin mother conceived of the father, the Sun, and who gave birth to the divine child who becomes our inner master, and saviour, as our regenerated soul and consciousness.

The Cold Within

Image

Six humans trapped by happenstance
In bleak and bitter cold.
Each one possessed a stick of wood
Or so the story’s told.

Their dying fire in need of logs
The first man held his back
For of the faces round the fire
He noticed one was black.

The next man looking ‘cross the way
Saw one not of his church
And couldn’t bring himself to give
The fire his stick of birch.

The third one sat in tattered clothes.
He gave his coat a hitch.
Why should his log be put to use
To warm the idle rich?

The rich man just sat back and thought
Of the wealth he had in store
And how to keep what he had earned
From the lazy shiftless poor.

The black man’s face bespoke revenge
As the fire passed from his sight.
For all he saw in his stick of wood
Was a chance to spite the white.

The last man of this forlorn group
Did nought except for gain.
Giving only to those who gave
Was how he played the game.

Their logs held tight in death’s still hands
Was proof of human sin.
They didn’t die from the cold without
They died from the cold within.

HEALTH ~ 10 Rules To Eat The Cleanest Foods Possible

Image

When it comes to purchasing food, protecting our bodies often goes hand-in-hand with protecting the environment … so if you follow a few simple rules, everyone wins!

Here are ten shopping rules that will boost your health and cut down on damage to the environment:

1. Eat at home instead of eating out.

Most eating establishments don’t use quality ingredients to prepare their food. The majority use genetically modified ingredients (GMO), with pesticides and chemicals and “bad oils.” For example, restaurants will use vegetable, canola, corn, cottonseed oil (usually GMO), peanut oil, hydrogenated oil, and palm oil. In order for the restaurants to make a profit, they usually buy the cheapest ingredients available. Concern for your health is not one of their top priorities. Eating out should be a “treat” and a cautious exercise in moderation.

2. Purchase ingredients and brands that care about you and about the environment.

Avoid, or at the very least minimize, your intake of ingredients and foods that have GMOs, are riddled with pesticides and chemicals, have monosodium glutamate (MSG), aspartame, artificial flavors, artificial sweeteners and colors, and any other ingredients you don’t recognize or are unable to read. These are all toxic ingredients.

Brands that contain these ingredients don’t care about your health. They care only for their bottom line. Also avoid brands that usually advertise on TV. In most cases, these brands contain GMO, chemicals and pesticides.

3. Buy locally grown ingredients.

Buying from the local farmers markets is not only a fun adventure, but an opportunity to buy directly from the grower, who will be there to field questions about whether their ingredients contain any harmful add-ons. Buying at the local markets means you’ll also be supporting local farmers!

4. Stop or minimize your intake of processed food.

When we make a daily choice of eating processed foods and supporting the companies who make the products, we’re directly contributing to factory farmed animals, caged chickens and ultimately contributing to the destruction of our environment. Many of these foods are also riddled with the GMOs, pesticides and chemicals.

5. Write to the government and ask them to stop feeding us toxic food.

If you care about your health, why not write to your local representatives or even the major food safety agency in your country (such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration) and ask them to stop the use of chemicals and pesticides in our food, to stop the approval of the use of GMO ingredients in our food; to stop the toxic fluoride in our water and foods, to stop the use of other dangerous ingredients in our food.

Let them know that you value your health and that truthful and genuine food safety is important to you. You no longer want to be a part of their experiment.

6. Drink less sodas and sweet drinks or eliminate them from your diet.

Most sodas and sweet drinks, especially diet and sugar-free drinks, contain many chemicals. Most of these drinks contain harmful chemicals such as aspartame, white processed sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, artificial colors and other chemicals.

7. Minimize or eliminate your intake of meat, fish and poultry.

Meat and poultry contain high levels of antibiotics that are injected into the animals. These animals are also mostly fed grains and corn (likely, GMO) to make them fat more quickly and ready for sale. In their natural environment, they eat grass and not grains. They’re factory farmed in small, confined spaces and not treated with respect and love.

We then ingest the entire animals and everything it was treated with, including the antibiotics, cruelty, pain, toxic grains, toxic corn, toxic soy into our bodies which, ultimately affects our health. Always choose certified organic.

8. Avoid buying and eating farm-raised fish.

Companies produce farm raised fish to make a profit. These fish are fed unnatural feed that could include GMO ingredients to fatten them up quickly and they can be highly toxic compared to their wild counterparts.

9. Stop buying unhealthy oils.

Eliminate vegetable, canola, corn, cottonseed oil (usually GMO), peanut oil, hydrogenated oil, and palm oil. These bad oils are detrimental to your health. Ensure you use good oils, such as extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil. By avoiding some of the bad oils, like palm oil, you are also minimizing the destruction to the environment.

10. Learn to read and understand product labels.

Make a point of knowing what’s in your food and where your food comes from.

Most labels are aimed at deceiving and confusing people. If you don’t recognize the ingredient, or you can’t pronounce it, then it probably isn’t good for you.

Avoid labels that also claim to be fat free, sugar free etc. Fat free or low-fat doesn’t mean it’s healthy. Many of these products are loaded with sugar and chemicals like aspartame.

Also exercise caution with labels that say, “made from imported ingredients.” These labels often use toxic ingredients. Only buy products that are truthful and clear about the country of origin, so you’re therefore able to investigate that country’s methods and food practices.

Morning Reverie

coffee-plumeria

You’ve got up early when it’s quiet and serene, made a cup of coffee and sat down on your porch with your laptop in the coolness of the morning to take in the splendor of the rising sun while you slowly reply to the questions of the outside world. This is your first attempt to be mindful, to really try and put into practice the sermons of the great Zen teachers you’ve been reading and listening to on YouTube. You’re mindful of your own mindfulness, and as you reproach your ego for telling you you’re doing a great job, chuckling at this little joke the universe has decided to share, you don’t notice the light from your laptop screen has attracted a mosquito.

The parasitic little mosquito lands unseen on the wrist you’re using to hold your coffee mug, and promptly digs in to the feast under your skin. You have a vague sensation of discomfort and your coffee hand jerks slightly, but you’re distracted by a must-read article on your news feed and you don’t notice the blood-sucking critter, nor do you see the small drop of coffee that has spilled onto your space bar.

You teeter unknowingly on the edge of catastrophe, and then, while still sitting comfortably in your chair, fall headlong into the abyss.

Your wrist begins to itch. A lot. At first you scratch it half-heartedly, but this soon turns into a frenzied, four-nail digging that provides only temporary relief. Half-way through each sentence in response to an important email from a client, you have to stop typing and scratch. You lose your train of thought repeatedly.

In between seeing to the agitation of your epidermis and trying to construct a coherent paragraph, you’re also having to stop writing to move the cursor backwards and at times fairly hammer the spacebar to affect standard grammatical norms. This is extremely annoying as it is slowing you down even more and why won’t the thing just work, anyway?

Suddenly you realise your feet are overheating. You’ve got socks and slippers on, as is customary in the morning, but the sun is turning these into a sheepskin kiln and there is sweat between your toes. Just as you’re about to do something about this the dog runs past with the remote control in its mouth. You prepare to shout at it but now you really need the toilet. Caught between the call of nature and the summary destruction of an important piece of technology, sweating profusely at both ends, unable to work and not knowing how to proceed, inside you the clam pool becomes a torrid heaving sea and you break.

As the smoke clears the remote has been saved by the sudden appearance of the neighbour’s cat, your wrist has stopped itching, you’re dressed and ready for work as usual, and you’ll answer those emails later with no trouble. But the day is lost. All attempts at mindfulness are on hold as your bad mood propels you through the following hours with all the joy of a fly moving through treacle, resigned to the end and simply willing it to come.

You tried so hard, you really did. You were so proud of that effort, and you had such high hopes.

Somewhere, the Buddha laughs.

RECIPE ~ Asian Street Sandwiches

Image

Asian style sandwiches are one of my family’s favorite foods. However, having a vegan daughter makes going out to enjoy them a little tricky. So, when I found this mouth-watering Asian street sandwich recipe, I knew I could easily make it into a vegan-friendly meal.

asian sandwich sauces

Substituting hoisin sauce for the oyster sauce makes the marinade vegan. The flavor of the hoisin sauce is less smoky when compared to the oyster sauce; however, the finished product still has the perfect blend of sweet, salty, spicy and umami. I made double the amount of marinade so that there would be enough to cover both pork and tofu.

tofu grilled with sauce

The savory marinade transformed humble tofu into a luscious filling. Simply fry thinly sliced firm tofu until crisp, and slather with the marinade. The result is full of robust flavor and a really appealing texture. My vegan daughter thought it was delicious and requested that I make more so that she could enjoy it over white rice the next day.

sandwich vegetables

The savory proteins of these sandwiches are perfectly contrasted by the fresh vegetables. Along with the sweet marinated cucumbers, herbaceous cilantro and cool crisp lettuce, I also added bean sprouts and sliced fresh jalapenos and scallions. The cucumber, lettuce and sprouts cooled the palate while the jalapeno and scallions add an element of spice and crunch. Piled high and slathered with the sriracha mayonnaise, these sandwiches will take you on a culinary trip to an exotic land.

cucumbers and sauce

Ingredients
3   tablespoons soy sauce
2   tablespoons packed brown sugar
2   tablespoons oyster sauce
2   tablespoons garlic, crushed
1   tablespoon grated fresh ginger
1   teaspoon plus 2 Tablespoons chili garlic sauce (such as Sriracha Thai hot sauce)
1   teaspoon sesame oil
1   lb. seasoned Tofu (as above) or pork roast, sliced into 12 thin pieces
1/4 cup  Rice Wine vinegar
1/4  cup Mirin (Japanese cooking wine)
1   tablespoon fresh mint, minced
1   medium cucumber, peeled and thinly sliced (about 1-1/4 cups)
1/2 cup Mayonaise
2   tablespoons olive oil

6   hero rolls, each 6 inches long, split
6   romaine lettuce leaves
1   cup cilantro leaves, stemmed and cleaned

Directions:

1.  In a medium-size bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of the soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of the sugar, 1 tablespoon of the oyster sauce, the garlic, the ginger, 1 teaspoon of the chili garlic sauce and 1/2 teaspoon of the sesame oil. Add pork and toss to coat. Transfer to a resealable plastic bag, remove the air and let marinate in the refrigerator 4 to 4-1/2 hours.
2.  Combine remaining 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, the rice wine vinegar, mirin and mint; mix until sugar dissolves. Add cucumber and marinate for 10 to 15 minutes.
3.  In a small bowl, blend mayonnaise with the remaining 1 tablespoon oyster sauce, 2 tablespoons chili garlic sauce and 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil. Let sit for 5 minutes.
4.  In medium-size saute pan or on hot grill, cook meat to medium-rare, until it registers 145 degrees on an instant-read thermometer, about 3 minutes. Transfer pork to a plate or platter.
5.  Drizzle olive oil on rolls and brown lightly on grill or under broiler, about 2 minutes. Spread mayo onto each roll, dividing evenly. Place pork in roll, top with marinated cucumbers, lettuce and cilantro. Slice in half and serve.

The Dark Night of the Soul

Dark Night of the Soul is a term used to describe a specific phase in a person’s spiritual life. It is used as a metaphor to describe the experience of loneliness and desolation that can occur during psychic or spiritual growth.

The term and metaphysicality of the phrase “dark night of the soul” is taken from the writings of the Spanish poet and Roman Catholic mystic, Saint John of the Cross, a Carmelite priest of the 16th century.

Dark Night of the Soul is the name of both a poem, and a commentary on that poem, and are among the Carmelite priest’s most famous writings. They tell of his mystic development and the stages he went through on his quest for holiness.

Spiritual purification is a process in which the soul is opened to receive the light of God. As it does so, it lets go of the darkness, that of all worldly attachments.

This emptying of the spirit, known in later centuries as kenosis, literally meaning self-emptying and can be very painful and entail profound suffering for those to attached to the material world.

Everything that links us to the realm of human perception and its way of being, needs to be expurgated. Saint John of the Cross elucidated to this process in that all who embark upon the spiritual path shall endure, and likens it to a dark night of the soul, in which the human spirit slowly transforms into a vessel for the divine.

The “dark night” can generally be described as a letting go of our ego’s hold on the psyche, making room for change that can bring about a complete transformation of a person’s Way of defining his/her self and their relationship to God.

In the Christian tradition, during the “dark night,” one who has developed a strong prayer life and consistent devotion to God suddenly finds traditional prayer extremely difficult or unrewarding for an extended period of time.

The seeker may begin to feel as though God has suddenly either abandoned them, that their prayer life has collapsed, or they may begin to feel that perhaps God doesn’t even exist.

But rather than being a negative event, the dark night is believed by mystics and others to be a blessing in disguise. The individual is trained to grow from a vocal or mental prayer, to a more contemplative prayer from deep within the soul.

The Dark Night comes in two phases: a first the “Night of the Senses,” and the second “Night of the Spirit.” Both are seen as the ultimate test of one’s faith and spiritual understanding.

The Dark Night of the Soul is the ultimate expression for the adept seeker. It details the often difficult journey of estranged spiritual despair to a blissful reunion with the Holy and the Divine. –

Attorney General Holder: Heroin Overdoses Are A Public Health Crisis

FOCUS ~ “Prescription Painkillers Tagged as Gateway Drug to Heroin,” by Dr. Mercola

According to a recent report commissioned by the Office of National Drug Control Policy,1 as many as 1.5 million Americans were chronic heroin users in 2010. Such statistics add further fuel to concerns about rising narcotics abuse and drug-related deaths.

Over the past five years alone, heroin deaths have increased by 45 percent2–an increase that officials blame on the rise of addictive prescription drugs such as Vicodin, OxyContin, Percocet, codeine, and Fentora, all of which are opioids (derivatives of opium).

According to Gil Kerlikowske, director of the U.S. Office of National Drug Control Policy,3 approximately 100 Americans died from drug overdoses each day in 2010.

Prescription painkillers were responsible for 16,600 deaths that year, and heroin was involved in about 3,000 deaths. (Meanwhile, cocaine use decreased by about 50 percent between 2002 and 2010.)

The reason for the resurgence of heroin is in large part due to it being less expensive than its prescription counterparts, and US officials now warn that narcotic painkillers are a driving force in the rise of substance abuse and lethal overdoses. According to the US Justice Department, prescription opiates and heroin are two of the most lethal substances available.

Prescription Narcotics—A Driving Force in Rising Substance Abuse

This connection finally received some media attention following the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman,4 a 46-year-old Oscar-winning actor. He died from heroin overdose on February 2. Last year, Hoffman entered rehab when addiction to prescription painkillers led him to switch to heroin.

US Attorney General Eric Holder recently announced his office is taking steps to address the problem head-on. This effort includes5 but is not limited to tracking drug overdose trends, educating health care professionals and the public about prescription drug abuse, and promoting programs shown to prevent such abuse.

The federal government will also require manufacturers of extended-release and long-acting opioids to provide prescribers with educational programs explaining the risks and benefits of opioid therapy, and how to select appropriate candidates for such therapy. Also, as reported by Reuters:6

“As part of that campaign, Holder reiterated the Obama administration’s call for more law enforcement agencies to train and equip personnel with an overdose-reversal medication called naloxone… Holder said 17 states and the District of Columbia have amended their laws to increase access to naloxone, a blocking agent that can reverse the effects of an overdose and help restore breathing.”

Doctors Are the Primary Opium Pushers of the 21st Century

According to a study published in JAMA Internal Medicine,7 while most opioid drug abusers obtain the drug from a friend or relative, (23 percent pay for them; 26 percent get them for free), individuals who are at greatest risk for drug abuse are just as likely to get theirs from a doctor’s prescription.

Previous drug abuse prevention programs have primarily focused on those who get their hands on opioids without a prescription. You may recall ads from previous years promoting the safe storage and disposal of prescription medication.

But such efforts have completely missed those at greatest risk for a drug overdose, i.e. those who use such drugs per doctor’s orders. Twenty-seven percent of the highest-risk users get their drugs from their doctor even when they’re using the drug nonmedically for 200 or more days per year… CDC Director Tom Frieden M.D., M.P.H recently echoed the study’s authors when he said that:8

“Many abusers of opioid pain relievers are going directly to doctors for their drugs. Health care providers need to screen for abuse risk and prescribe judiciously by checking past records in state prescription drug monitoring programs. It’s time we stop the source and treat the troubled.”

Another JAMA study9 notes that, of the drug overdose deaths occurring in Tennessee between 2003 and 2010, more were caused by prescription drugs than heroin and cocaine combined. Incredibly, between 2007 and 2011, one-third of the population of Tennessee filled at least one prescription for an opioid each year … According to the authors:

“High-risk use of prescription opioids is frequent and increasing in Tennessee and is associated with increased overdose mortality. Use of prescription drug–monitoring program data to direct risk-reduction measures to the types of patients overrepresented among overdose deaths might reduce mortality associated with opioid abuse.”

Doctors Are Prescribing More Sedatives Than Ever

In related news, preliminary research10 presented at the 2014 meeting of the American Academy of Pain Medicine in Phoenix, Arizona found that 12.6 percent of all primary care visits made by Americans between 2002 and 2009 involved prescriptions for sedatives and/or narcotic painkillers (opioids). The study also found that:

The number of prescriptions for sedative drugs rose by 12.5 percent a year

Patients receiving a narcotic painkiller were 4.2 times more likely to receive a second prescription for a sedative

The number of joint prescriptions of opioids and sedatives also increased by 12 percent a year in that time frame

Prescription sedatives and narcotic painkillers are responsible for at least 30 percent of narcotic painkiller-related deaths

Besides deaths caused by overdose, other risks associated with sedative use include falls in the elderly, emergency room visits, and drug dependence

According to co-author Dr. Ming-Chih Kao, a clinical assistant professor at Stanford University Medical Center:11 “Doctors need to be better educated about the risks of combining the two medications, and there needs to be better coordination between those who prescribe narcotic painkillers (often primary care doctors or pain specialists) and those who prescribe sedatives (often primary care doctors or psychiatrists).”

FDA Clamps Down on Painkiller Prescriptions, But Approves New Pure Hydrocodone Product

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently recommended tighter controls on painkiller prescriptions,12, 13 and has announced its intention to reclassify hydrocodone-containing painkillers from a Schedule III to a Schedule II drug. The drug schedule system classifies medications based on their potential for abuse and addiction, as well as other medical criteria. The reclassification will affect how hydrocodone-containing drugs can be prescribed and refilled. Doctors will only be allowed to prescribe a 90-day supply of the drug per prescription, and they will no longer be permitted to phone in refills.

Rather, the patient has to bring the prescription with them to the pharmacy. The new regulations are expected to take effect sometime this year. Ironically enough, while talking about the need for stricter controls and less addictive painkillers, it recently approved the first drug containing pure hydrocodone for the US market, called Zohydro ER (Zogenix). All other hydrocodone-containing painkillers on the market are mixed with other non-addictive ingredients.

Prescription Medications Are the New Gateway Drugs

Many are still under the illusion that prescription drugs are somehow safer than street drugs, but it’s important to realize that prescription medications like hydrocodone and oxycodone are opioid derivatives—just like heroin. Heroin is actually diacetylmorphine and much stronger than morphine. A perfect example of this nonchalance can be seen in statistics14 showing that more than 14 percent of pregnant women are prescribed opioid drugs during their pregnancy…

As explained by Dr. Wilson Compton,15 deputy director of the US National Institute on Drug Abuse, heroin, morphine, hydrocodone, and oxycodone “are all classified as opioids because they exert their effect by attaching to the opioid receptor found in our brain and spinal cord.”

They also create a temporary feeling of euphoria, followed by dysphoria, which can easily lead to addiction. Some people end up taking increasingly larger doses in order to regain the euphoric effect, or escape the unhappiness caused by withdrawal. Others find they need to continue taking the drugs not only to reduce withdrawal symptoms but to simply feel normal. Opioids also depress your heart rate and breathing. Large doses can cause sedation and slowed breathing to the point that breathing stops altogether, resulting in death.16

13 Non-Drug Solutions for Pain Relief

Considering the risks, I strongly recommend exhausting your options before resorting to a narcotic pain reliever. I believe there are better, viable alternatives. If you are suffering from pain, whether acute or chronic, I recommend working with a knowledgeable health care practitioner to determine what’s really triggering your pain, and then address the underlying cause.

Remember, along with exposing you to potentially deadly risks, medications only provide symptomatic relief. They do NOT address the underlying cause of your pain. The following options provide excellent pain relief without any of the health hazards that prescription (and even over-the-counter) painkillers carry. So if you’re in pain, try these first, before even thinking about prescription painkillers of any kind.

Eliminate or radically reduce processed foods, grains, and processed sugars from your diet. Avoiding grains and processed sugars will lower your insulin and leptin levels and decrease insulin and leptin resistance, which is one of the most important reasons why inflammatory prostaglandins are produced. That is why stopping sugar and sweets is so important to controlling your pain and other types of chronic illnesses.

Optimize your production of vitamin D by getting regular, appropriate sun or safe tanning bed exposure, which will work through a variety of different mechanisms to reduce your pain.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a drug-free approach for pain management of all kinds. EFT borrows from the principles of acupuncture, in that it helps you balance out your subtle energy system. It helps resolve underlying, often subconscious, negative emotions that may be exacerbating your physical pain. By stimulating (tapping) well-established acupuncture points with your fingertips, you rebalance your energy system, which tends to dissipate pain.

Astaxanthin is one of the most effective fat-soluble antioxidants known. It has very potent anti-inflammatory properties and in many cases works far more effectively than anti-inflammatory drugs. Higher doses are typically required and one may need 8 mg or more per day to achieve this benefit.

Ginger: This herb has potent anti-inflammatory activity and offers pain relief and stomach-settling properties. Fresh ginger works well steeped in boiling water as a tea or grated into vegetable juice.

Curcumin: In a study of osteoarthritis patients, those who added 200 mg of curcumin a day to their treatment plan had reduced pain and increased mobility.17 A past study also found that a turmeric extract composed of curcuminoids blocked inflammatory pathways, effectively preventing the overproduction of a protein that triggers swelling and pain.18

Boswellia: Also known as boswellin or “Indian frankincense,” this herb contains specific active anti-inflammatory ingredients. This is one of my personal favorites as I have seen it work well with many rheumatoid arthritis patients.

Bromelain: This enzyme, found in pineapples, is a natural anti-inflammatory. It can be taken in supplement form but eating fresh pineapple, including some of the bromelain-rich stem, may also be helpful.

Cetyl myristoleate (CMO): This oil, found in fish and dairy butter, acts as a “joint lubricant” and an anti-inflammatory. I have used this for myself to relieve ganglion cysts and a mild annoying carpal tunnel syndrome that pops up when I type too much on non-ergonomic keyboards. I used a topical preparation for this.

Evening Primrose, black currant, and borage oils: These contain the essential fatty acid gamma linolenic acid (GLA), which is useful for treating arthritic pain.

Cayenne cream: Also called capsaicin cream, this spice comes from dried hot peppers. It alleviates pain by depleting the body’s supply of substance P, a chemical component of nerve cells that transmits pain signals to your brain.

Methods such as yoga, Foundation Training, acupuncture, meditation,19 hot and cold packs, and other mind-body techniques can also result in astonishing pain relief without any drugs.

Aspartame Being Re-Branded as AminoSweet: The Next Chapter in Aspartame’s Dangerous History

aspartame-name-change-amino-sweetAspartame’s presence in the world’s food supply has been the subject of great protest and controversy since the mid-1980′s when then CEO if Searle, Donald Rumsfeld, pushed for it’s approval to be sold on the market. As you may or may not remember, Mr. Rumsfeld went on to become George W. Bush’s Secretary of Defense. But aside from Aspartame’s availability on the market proving, once again, the ease in which someone could take advantage of the Crony-Capitalist door that links Government and corporations, Aspartame has been consistently proven to harm whoever, or whatever, consumes it.

Aspartame is an artificial, non-saccharide sweetener used as a sugar substitute in many foods and beverages. In the European Union, it is codified as E951, and is most popularly sold under the NutraSweet and Equal brand names.

The possible association between specific artificial sweeteners and cancer?

Studies in laboratory rats during the early 1970s linked saccharin with the development of bladder cancer. For this reason, Congress mandated that further studies of saccharin be performed and required that all food containing saccharin bear the following warning label: “Use of this product may be hazardous to your health. This product contains saccharin, which has been determined to cause cancer in laboratory animals.”

The FDA’s own toxicologist, Dr. Adrian Gross told Congress that without a shadow of a doubt, aspartame can cause brain tumors and brain cancer and that it violated the Delaney Amendment, which forbids putting anything in food that is known to cause cancer.

According to the top doctors and researchers on this issue, aspartame causes headache, memory loss, seizures, vision loss, coma and cancer. It worsens or mimics the symptoms of such diseases and conditions as fibromyalgia, MS, lupus, ADD, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, chronic fatigue and depression.

“In 2005, the European Ramazzini Foundation published new findings of a long-term feeding study on aspartame conducted in rats. Scientists from ERF concluded from their study that aspartame causes cancer and the current uses and consumption of the sweetener should be re-evaluated.” (Read More Here) And what do you know? The EFSA and the FDA both found that the ERF’s conclusion was not supported by the data they collected, and that there was no need to “further review earlier scientific opinion on the safety of aspartame or to revise the Acceptable Daily Intake.”

The Little-Known Phenylketonuria Problem

Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid which the body is only able to receive through diet. It can be found in most animal products, and also human breast milk. The interesting thing is that aspartame is also broken down into Phenylalanine, among other things.

Sounds like a rare upside to aspartame, right? Read on.

“Turns out that one in 15,000 people in the world has a genetic disorder called Phenylketonuria. Their body can’t metabolize synthesize phenylalanine. As it builds up in the body, it causes all sorts of bad things to happen, such as mental retardation, seizures, and other brain damage. People suffering from Phenylketonuria (or PKU) are called phenylketonurics. They need to constantly monitor their protein intake. They are also warned about consumption of products containing aspartame – hence the warning on labels – ‘Phenylketonurics – contains phenylalanine.’”

Aspartame, and other artificial sweeteners, like Sucralose, are almost impossible for the body to break down completely because it is foreign to what the body was designed to assimilate. We are organic beings, made to use organic produce as fuel for our bodies. Because there are few natural processes that are able to pass these chemicals through the body, they are often stored, and eventually cause weight gain. On top of that, artificial sweeteners contain free methyl alcohol which is classified as a narcotic.

“It causes methanol poisoning which affects the dopamine system of the brain and causes addiction.”

So, now not only it is extremely difficult to break down the essential elements of the substance, it is physically addicting! Which is why diet products eventually make you fatter than the original products! And as of November 2009, in a more recent attempt to entrap people into becoming slaves to dangerous product lines, Aspartame has been re-branded under the name “AminoSweet.” So, you see, it isn’t about providing a quality product and reforming faulty business models; it’s about merely tricking people into consuming chemical additives.

It is also important to note that Natural Cures Not Medicine does not endorse the consumption of processed cane sugar, and have always suggested that people have as little as possible. There is a reason why sugar injections are often used to make cancer “light up” on scans; sugar is FOOD for cancer. Raw, all-natural sweeteners, like Raw Honey, are always a better bet.

Isn’t it funny how most drugs and chemicals are approved, no matter the danger, when a profit stands to be made? How many times do we have to recall deadly drugs like Baycol, Vioxx, Posicor, or Bextra, before we get the hint: The people of the world are being used as lab rats for big pharma’s profit-first mentality. The aim for all of these companies is never to improve the health of people; it is to increase profits for shareholders, create life-long customers, create product addiction, and to make reproduction as cheap as possible.

If doctors and the FDA could start approving food to treat conditions there would be no overdoses and drastic reductions in new cancer cases. Cancer is a result of separating man from nature; the more synthetic chemicals and toxins that enter our body the more chance we have of getting diseases such as cancer.

We get a lot of hate mail here at Natural Cures Not Medicine, telling us that we are making people sick and spreading disinformation. But the truth is, we only suggest you eat FOOD at the end of the day, not chemicals, toxins, or medications. Those are what kill people, not drinking celery juice to try to control your blood pressure; not trying to use bananas to whiten your teeth. Man has been on earth for thousands and thousands of years. Medicine has been around for 100 or so years. Who needs who?

528 hz + DNA?

“Richard J. Saykally from UC Berkeley has explained that the structure of the water molecule gives it special properties and is essential for DNA’s function.”

(Water needs to be in a certain shape for it to function well inside DNA.)

“Hydrated DNA hold far greater energy potentials than dehydrated strands.”

(DNA can hold more energy potentials when it is NOT dehydrated.)

“Richard J. Saykally, and other genetics from the University of California, Berkeley have proven that a slight reduction of energized water, bathing genetic matrices, causes DNA to fail energetically.”

(When DNA is not hydrated, the body fails energetically.)

“Dr. Lee Lorenzen, discovered that six-sided, crystal-shaped, hexagonal clustered water molecules, form the supportive matrix of healthy DNA.”

(When DNA IS hydrated, it forms 6 sided shapes that construct new healthy existences for DNA energy potential.)

” Biochemist Steve Chemiski, says that these 6-sided clear clusters vibrate at a specific resonant frequency — 528 cycles per second.”

[Fibonacci]
The Fibonacci Sequence is a naturally occurring series of numbers. They are even seen in stocks. The series forms through addition, where 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8,13, etc. are all additions of the most recent number to the last. These numbers create ratios, and geometry that is consistently exemplified (leaves, flower petals, branches, pine cones, shells, horns, starfish, hands, limbs, eyes, ears.)

[528 Hz]
DO, RE, MI, FA, SO, LA is referring to 6 tones, revealed in “Book of Numbers.” They are the Solfeggio Scale. “MI” is the central note in the scale (528 hz). “MI” is a derivative of the Latin words “mira gestorum.” In English, that translates to “Miracle.” According to Dr. Len Horowitz, 528 hz is the Universal Sound of “Love.”

[Pi]
3.14159 hz = Delta Wave. Delta waves reflect the state between wakefulness and sleep, and relate to the subconscious. This number represents a steady numerical vibration. The decimal places have been recorded to exceed 10 trillion with no estimated limit.

4 Harsh Truths That Will Jolt You Awake

Image

“The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.” –Gloria Steinem

Are you tired of floating around in that pink goop of the Matrix? Are you ready to slough off the illusion like it was an old hat? Has the White Rabbit been too fast for you so far? If you are reading this article, you are here to wake up. Here are five ways to slow that white rabbit down so you can catch up.

1) Money is a hoax

“The Western worldview says, in essence, that technological progress is the highest value and that we were born to consume, to endlessly use and discard natural recourses, other species, gadgets, toys, and often, each other. The most highly prized freedom is the right to shop. It’s a world of commodities, not entities, and economic expansion is the primary measure of progress. Competition, taking, and hoarding are higher values than cooperation, sharing, and gifting. Profits are valued over people, money over meaning, entitlement over justice, ‘us’ over ‘them.’ This is the most dangerous addiction in the world, not only because of its impact on humanity but because it is rapidly undermining the natural systems that sustain the biosphere. –Bill Plotkin

It is not the more evolved aspect of ourselves that tricks us into thinking that we need money to survive; it’s the less evolved aspect of ourselves that does the tricking. With our advanced technologies we imagine that we know the way the world works, when, for the most part, we have forgotten how everything is connected.

Until we can relearn “a language older than words,” and once again engage in a healthy dialogue with nature and the cosmos, we will continue to be tricked by the less evolved aspects of ourselves. The more awareness we bring to this extremely complicated cognitive dissonance, the more possible it will be to achieve an ecologically, economically, and socially sustainable world.

As it stands, however, the Federal Reserve is a house of cards guarded by a red herring. Money is the opiate of the masses, and the masses are too busy spending it on worthless crap to get to know each other as healthy individuals, let alone as a healthy community. We have become Pavlov Dogs, and money is our dinner bell. But money was never meant to be horded, or even amassed, it was meant to circulate as a way of uplifting the community. And yet here we are, hoarding and amassing, while our communities are in unhealthy disarray. It’s high time we abandoned the force-fed shibboleth that having more money makes us better people. It doesn’t. Being healthy, compassionate and moral is what makes us better.

2) Debt is fiction

“There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt.” –John Adams

Unfortunately our nation has been enslaved by debt. Our current system is not an economic system at all, but an ecocidal system; an intrinsic obsolescence of conspicuous consumption. It’s a grave misfortune that efficiency, sustainability, and preservation are the enemies of our socioeconomic system. This has got to be the most bizarre delusion in the history of human thought, a retarded Ponzi scheme en masse.

But it’s difficult to get people to understand something when money, and especially debt, prevents them from understanding it. Instead of ownership, give us strategic access. Instead of equity, give us equality. Instead of one-track-minded profit, give us open-minded people. Instead of unsustainable monetary-based economics, give us a sustainable resource-based economy, which is basically the scientific method applied to ecological and social concerns.

As tough as it is to hear, nature is a dictatorship. We can either listen to it and fall into harmony or deny it and suffer. Ask yourself this question by Fleet & Lasn:  “When the economic system fails, will we know how to behave, how to act, how to appreciate, how to value, how to survive, how to be and how to love in a world that no longer defines relations by money?”

3) Media is manipulation

tv-lies

“Any dictator would admire the uniformity and obedience of the U.S. media.” –Noam Chomsky

Media has always been an effective method for manipulating people. We are social creatures who are also psychological creatures. This combination makes us unwittingly vulnerable to the power of suggestion. As it stands, media has been our Achilles Heel. These days the “news” we receive from corporate media is more likely to be disinformation. Skepticism is a must when reading or viewing the information provided by these outlets.

The key: Don’t believe anything you hear and only half of what you see. Analyze the Kool Aide before you swallow it. Even then, be prepared to vomit it back up at the first sign of deception. Remain circumspect and question all authority. They don’t have our best interest at heart. They only want our money, and to remain powerful. Like Wendell Berry wrote in the Unsettling of America, “People whose governing habit is the relinquishment of power, competence, and responsibility, make excellent spenders. They are the ideal consumers. By inducing in them little panics of boredom, powerlessness, sexual failure, mortality, paranoia, they can be made to buy virtually anything that is “attractively packaged.””

We are slowly becoming more aware of corporate media lying to us. But they know we know they’re lying to us. And we know they know we know they’re lying to us. With enough inertia, this debacle of a process just continues until we are eventually lying to ourselves. And here we are. Like the great Baruch Spinoza once surmised, “The supreme mystery of despotism, its prop and stay, is to keep men in a state of deception, and cloak the fear by which they must be held in check, so that they will fight for their servitude as if for salvation.” And here we are, unless we decide to wake up.

4) Government is a corporation

“The end of democracy and the defeat of the American Revolution will occur when government falls into the hands of lending institutions and moneyed incorporations.” –Thomas Jefferson

Here’s the thing: we do not live in a democracy, and we probably never really have. A prestigious Princeton study recently concluded that we live in an oligarchy: rule by a few individuals. And these individuals just so happen to be plutocrats, making this particular flavor of oligarchy a plutocracy: rule by the rich.

The problem is that money itself has become an immoral agent within an otherwise amoral system that praises itself as moral. Ask yourself: do you wish to live out harried lives of nine-to-five slavery, giving up your days to heartless corporations that don’t give a damn about anything except making money, or do you wish to live a happy life of loving compassion, doing what you enjoy, in spite of plutocracy, oligarchy, and tyranny?

The Occupy Movement succeeded in shifting the tenor and shape of debate in the world, but we must not rest on our laurels. Trickle-down economics DOES NOT WORK! Austerity economics DOES NOT WORK! Corporations are NOT people. Money does NOT equal speech. It’s a trap. If we don’t get big money out of politics then everything we want to do will be hopeless. We need to be smarter with our mobilization tactics for the change and allocation of power within our society. So far the security and surveillance state has boxed us in, like the great MLK Jr. said, “Those who love peace must learn to organize as effectively as those who love war.”
