Living with Aloha Spirit
There is value in persistence in the face of disappointment. The moral is sound: eventually, you won’t have to paddle, and your wave will take you to places you never thought you would go. A single wave is actually a great metaphor for your relationship to the world. You are unique, never to be repeated, but made of the vastness of the ocean.

20 Signs You’re A Spiritually Healthy Person
When you meet someone who is spiritually healthy, you’re immediately drawn to that person. You feel good just by being around them. These people are magnets for happiness, freedom and generosity, and have a unique ability to enjoy the present moment.
The only way you can achieve true spiritual satisfaction is by following your heart’s desires. Here are some clues that you can use to stay on the right path.
Here are 20 signs you’re spiritually healthy:
1. You stepped out of the victim role and now play the game of designing your destiny.
2. You love your life because you’re living your soul’s purpose.
3. You feel like you’re contributing and serving with generosity.
4. You got off the emotional roller coaster, and your emotions feel like smooth waves on a clear day most of the time.
5. You catch yourself when you judge others and realize that what you’re judging is intimately related to your own self-acceptance.
6. You don’t fear making the wrong decision, because you’re aware that there can always be a spiritual lesson.
7. You understand that freedom and happiness are qualities you cultivate from within, and the more you work on them, the more they grow.
8. You no longer feel like you need to hide out of fear of judgment; you are the full expression of yourself personally and professionally.
9. You spend time in silence daily and crave it when you miss a day, because you feel like something is “off.”
10. You have the courage to let go of relationships that no longer benefit you because you understand that they already served their purpose.
11. Your soul is happy because you find a moment to play and dream every single day.
12. You don’t feel lonely or disconnected, and you highly appreciate alone time.
13. You seem to notice details, colors, tastes and beauty with a sensibility that makes you feel like a kid.
14. You express your needs and desires with complete confidence and without confrontation.
15. You don’t feel like you have to explain your lifestyle, because you understand how it serves you and might not serve others.
16. You’re able to be in the now at least 25% of the time; you’re fully present and in joy.
17. You don’t second guess yourself because you trust your intuition and act on it.
18. You trust that life is on your side and problems are always opportunities or lessons to be learned.
19. You are able to fall in love over and over again, with your friends, with your partner, with your work.
20. You start your day with an intention and go to bed in gratitude.

SEEDS FOR MEDITATION …
You don’t need to know.
Life wouldn’t be this grand adventure if you knew what was coming.
Love the mystery.
This is Lana. I have folded thousands of cranes for 30+ years and have imbued them with healing energies and left them for others as prayers for peace and blessings. My expression of spreading the Aloha Spirit to anyone and everyone. For many years while commuting on the Vallejo Ferry to and from San Francisco, I folded and left cranes for people to discover and take away with them … I have left cranes at the various places I visited throughout my day. Every December, I would use specially made beautiful Japanese washi papers to fold cranes and create ornaments for my Yule tree … only to give them away to friends and family during the course of the new year. I find folding and sharing Origami cranes is a willful way to connect myself with those around me and the spirit of mystery. Gassho.
Spiritual Awareness ~ 9
In your modern cultures, you have lost much of the tribal ceremony and rites of passage.
In place of rites of passage, you have endless activities to keep you busy and focused on “getting ahead in the world.” You might combine spiritual activities with other tasks or try to cram them into your busy schedule.
Spiritual Awakening ~ 3
Yes, you have souls from every conceivable level of consciousness here, from extremely ignorant to sublimely enlightened.
You also have souls who have dedicated themselves to paths of darkness and so-called “evil.” In this case, the word “evil” means, “Having a conscious intent to hold souls back on their spiritual evolution.”

Teriyaki Pork Lettuce Wraps
Delish and one of my summer favs! As a Veggie, I would simply substitute the pork with a protein substitute, such as Tempeh, Seitan or seasoned Tofu.
These wraps are a really nice end to a hot day. Simple, filling and refreshing.
Teriyaki Pork Lettuce Wraps
1 pound boneless country style pork spare ribs
2 tablespoons sesame oil
a little seasoning salt and pepper
1 cup teriyaki sauce (recipe below)
romaine or butter lettuce leaves, whole
1 cup cilantro leaves, chopped
2 carrots, peeled and grated
3 Tbsp Mae Ploy Sweet Chili Sauce
1 sheet rice sticks pasta
¼ cup chopped peanuts
In a large bowl, soak rice sticks in water (filtered if your water quality is poor). In a small bowl, stir grated carrot together with Mae Ploy Sauce. Once rice sticks have softened, transfer to colander and drain completely.
Heat a large skillet to medium heat. Rinse pork ribs and sprinkle with seasoning salt and pepper. Heat sesame oil in pan and cook pork, 3-5 minutes per side, until brown. Pour Teriyaki…

Sacredness in Hawai’i
The first law of thermal dynamics states that energy cannot be created or destroyed. The Hawaiians must have known this as they believed that while the sacredness of a place could perhaps be defiled, it could never be lost. Energy extends to sacred places and the objects within them, such as pohaku. Pohaku hold a lot of power and seek to be in their proper place at all times. (Just ask anyone who has tried to bring black sand or lava pieces home with them after picking them up from Hawaiian shores. The disasters cease when these items are returned to Hawai’i Nei.) Although Hawai’i is not Mecca, Lhasa or Lourdes, the islands deserve to be recognized as the land of the gods and goddesses. The land is not just filled with sacred objects, the land itself is sacred and blessed. When one makes a journey, they must first chant to the place to which they are traveling, because no one else will ever experience what they will experience there. Every experience mixes our own personal consciousness with the sacred power of the particular place. And, in Hawai’i, there are many powerful and mysterious experiences to be had.

Hawaiian Prayer For Healing
Divine Creator, Father, Mother, Son As One
If I, my family, relatives and ancestors have
Offended you, your family, relatives and ancestors,
In thoughts, words, deeds and actions
From the beginning of our creation to the present,
We ask your forgiveness.
Let this cleanse, purify, release and cut all the negative
Memories, blocks, energies and vibrations,
And transmute these unwanted energies to Pure Light.
Amen.

Evening and morning and at noonday I will pray; and He shall hear my voice. ~ Psalms 55:15
Hear me, Sons of Light, for I will impart to you the gift of tongues, that by speaking to your Earthly Mother in the morning, and to your Heavenly Father in the evening, you may go closer and closer to oneness with the kingdoms of earth and heaven, that oneness for which the Son of Man is destined from the beginning of the times. ~ Essene Gospel of Peace—With the coming of day I embrace my Mother. With the coming of night I join my Father. With the outgoing of the evening and morning I will breathe their Law. And I will not interrupt these Communions until the end of time. ~ Manual of Discipline – Dead Sea Scrolls
The Essene Holy Communion For THURSDAY

There is no greater power in heaven and earth than in the thoughts of the Son of Man. ~The Isaiah Effect—Each of us has deep within the knowledge of all things, and when we are ready to remember, the knowledge is there to be known. ~The Essene Book of Days—Only when we surrender to our inner nature can we begin to hear the wisdom that comes from deep within.~ The Essene Book of Days
Peace be with you.
The Essene Holy Communion For WEDNESDAY
“Evening and morning, and at noonday I will pray; and He shall hear my voice” ~ Psalms 55:15
“They (Essenes) greeted the Sun each morning with great reverence”~ Josephus, Jewish historian, 1st century CE
Truly, all must be born again of Sun and of truth, for your body basks in the sunlight of the Earthly Mother, and your spirit basks in the sunlight of truth of the Heavenly Father. ~ Gospel of Peace of Jesus Christ—I will praise Thy works with songs of Thanksgiving continually, from period to period, in the circuits of the day, and in its fixed order; with the coming of light from its source and at the turn of evening and the outgoing of light, at the outgoing of darkness and the coming in of day, continually, in all the generations of time. ~The Thanksgiving Psalms: The Dead Sea Scrolls—A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another and all creatures of God. Love is the fulfillment of the Law. Love IS God and God IS love. Whoso loveth not, knoweth not God. ~ Jesus, Gospel of the Holy Twelve
The Essene Holy Communion For TUESDAY
Evening and morning and at noonday I will pray; and He shall hear my voice. ~ Psalms 55:15
The Holy Temple can be built only with the ancient Communions. Those which are spoken, those which are thought, and those which are lived. ~ Gospel of the Essenes—To make the human heart a temple, the soul an alter, and the mind a priest. These were the missions of Jesus the Nazarene. ~ Kahlil Gibran
The Essene Holy Communion For MONDAY
Angel of Life / Angel of Peace
Evening and morning and at noonday I will pray; and He shall hear my voice. ~Psalms 55:15
Thou hast purified my body to join the angels of the earth, and my spirit to reach the congregation of the heavenly angels. Thou gavest man eternity to praise at dawn and dusk Thy works and wonders in joyful song. ~ from the Thanksgiving Psalms; The Dead Sea Scrolls
The Communions are a bridge between man and the angels. And like a bridge, can only be built with patience. Yea, even as a bridge over a river that is fashioned with the stones that are found along the water’s edge. ~Gospel of the Essenes
The Essene Holy Communion For SUNDAY
Angel of Earth / Angel of Creative Work
Evening and morning and at noonday I will pray; and He shall hear my voice. ~Psalms 55:15
THE PHYSICAL COMMUNION: This day is devoted to tending the Earth. In the spirit of regeneration, healing and abundance, focus on creative work out-of-doors or in the garden. As stewards of the Earth, understand how things grow and how we are nourished by the life force of plants. Tend to gardens, plants, flowers and trees. Don’t create “waste” or garbage. Recycle everything.
To lift your eyes to heaven when all men’s eyes are on the ground, is not easy. To worship at the feet of the angels when all men worship only fame and riches, is not easy. But the most difficult of all is to think the thoughts of the angels, to speak the words of the angels, and to do as the angels do. ~ Gospel of the Essenes
Aloha In Action
What can you do when your blessings feel so abundant you don’t know how they are all going to fit into your heart? Go into the world, provide comfort, live for people.
Who can you help today? Who can you smile at at the farmer’s markets, or be extra kind to at the bank? For the people you know and don’t know … do something special to let them know there is goodness in the world today, because there is goodness out there (and if you have forgotten that, then just by reminding others, you will remember.)

PONO
One of the most respected living Kupuna/Elder in Hawai’i Nei is Aunty Mahealani Kuamo’o-Henry, Kumu ‘Elele o Na Kupuna. According to Aunty, and contrary to Off-Island (mis)interpretation, the Hawaiian word ho’oponopono means Acceptance … not the New Age rubbish of “I’m sorry, please forgive me, I love you, thank you.”
In Acceptance, you Surrender by releasing the grip that is your Ego and make no judgments because All Are One. This is the message brought to us through Ka Lei Aloha I Na Kupuna … our beloved teachers of The Way … what we at The Halau know to be the Way of Aloha Spirit.
The Kupuna elders taught that when the heart and mind work together, we LIVE ALOHA. Knowledge and wisdom are found in ALOHA. Aloha starts within ourselves. The key to aloha is to apply it in your heart, then your mind and finally BE Aloha. These are the defining traits of character that express the charm, warmth and sincerity that are the People of Hawai’i. It is this working philosophy that has been presented as a gift to the people of our world. As you will come to know walking with The Halau here, Aloha is more than just a Word. It is the very Heart of Who We Are.
