To one whose self is his body, death of the body is death of the self. But for one whose self is his love, awe and faith, there is no death, only a passing. From a state of confinement in the body, he makes the passage to liberation. He continues to work within this world, and even more so than before.

The Talmud says that Jacob, our father, never died. Moses, also, never died. Neither did Rabbi Judah the Prince. They were very high souls who were one with Truth in an ultimate bond—and since Truth can never die, neither could they.

Yes, in our eyes we see death. A body is buried in the ground, and we must mourn the loss. But this is only part of the falseness of our world. In the World of Truth, they are still here as before.

And the proof: We are still here. For if these high souls would not be with us in our world, all that we know would cease to exist.

Recipe ~ Spicey Whole Roasted Cauliflower

  • Start to Finish: 1 hour

Ingredients

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 head cauliflower

1½ cups plain Greek yogurt

1 lime, zested and juiced

2 tablespoons chile powder

1 tablespoon cumin

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon curry powder

2 teaspoons kosher salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 400° and lightly grease a small baking sheet with vegetable oil. Set aside.

2. Trim the base of the cauliflower to remove any green leaves and the woody stem.

3. In a medium bowl, combine the yogurt with the lime zest and juice, chile powder, cumin, garlic powder, curry powder, salt and pepper.

4. Dunk the cauliflower into the bowl and use a brush or your hands to smear the marinade evenly over its surface. (Excess marinade can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to three days and used with meat, fish or other veggies.)

5. Place the cauliflower on the prepared baking sheet and roast until the surface is dry and lightly browned, 30 to 40 minutes. The marinade will make a crust on the surface of the cauliflower.

6. Let the cauliflower cool for 10 minutes before cutting it into wedges and serving alongside a big green salad.

Recipe ~ Blue Cheese & Walnut Stuffed Belgian Endive

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup chopped walnuts
  • 4 tablespoons honey, divided
  • 2/3 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup of balsamic vinegar
  • 6 tablespoons orange juice
  • 32 Belgian endive leaves
  • 2/3 cup crumbled blue cheese, such as Roquefort cheese
  • 2 tablespoon minced chives

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a bowl mix together the walnuts, 2 tablespoons honey and 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt.
  3. Spread the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment or aluminum foil.
  4. Pop the walnuts into the oven and allow to bake for 5 minutes, then stir and allow to continue to bake for another 5 minutes, for a total of 10 minutes, or until they are gold brown.
  5. While those are cooling combine your remaining 2 tablespoons of honey, balsamic vinegar, and orange juice in a small saucepan.
  6. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, and then reduce the heat to a simmer.
  7. Allow this to cook until it has reduced down to 6 tablespoons.
  8. This will take from 7-10 minutes.
  9. Fill each endive leaf with 1 teaspoon each of the following: blue cheese, candied walnuts, dried cranberries.
  10. Arrange in a circular pattern on a tray.
  11. Now time for some abstract art fun; drizzle the reduced vinegar/honey/orange juice mixture over the endive leaves, and finish it with a sprinkling of chives and black pepper.

Recipe ~ Fourth of July “Mounds” Bars

Ingredients:

(1) 7 oz bag sweetened shredded coconut
7 oz sweetened condensed milk
(1) 12 oz bag dark chocolate chips
Food Coloring

Directions:

1. Combine one 7 oz bag of sweetened shredded coconut with 7 oz of condensed milk. Mix well.

2. Separate your mixture into 3 different bowls. Put the same amount in each bowl and add red food coloring to one bowl and blue to the other. The white obviously stays as is. The blue will only need about 2 drops but the red will require more otherwise it will be pink. If you have food coloring gels these work well. Refrigerate all the mixtures for 1 hour.

3. Remove your bowls from the refrigerator and start preparing 2 inch mounds on a lined baking sheet. I think it’s best to use a Silpat but if you do not have a Silpat, use wax paper. I did one color at a time then washed my hands and moved on to the next color so the colors did not bleed together.

4. Using a damp paper towel, cover your bars and shape them with your hands. Refrigerate for another 2 hours.

5. Once your bars are completely cold you need to melt your dark chocolate chips in a double boiler or in the microwave. Now there are two ways to melt your chocolate. If you melt your chocolate in the microwave at 30 second intervals (stirring in between) like I normally tell you to do, your chocolate will be more soft and malleable; meaning, if you leave these these candies out all day, the chocolate will start to melt a bit and it will get all over your hands. If you want your chocolate to be hard (like when you buy a box of candy) you will need to temper your chocolate. Once your chocolate is melted you will want to dip your bars into the melted chocolate and place back on the lined tray. This is totally messy and there is no other way to do it. Refrigerate for another 2 hours.

Tip:  If you want your bars to look smoother you can dip them again and do a second coating of chocolate and then refrigerate once again. The bars pictured here were double-dipped. Enjoy!

#30  ~  Li  ~ Radiance; Omens Shine Bright

The Wisdom:

Lights burn bright all around you
You are illuminated
Words are without value
The voice of the heart is heard and is gentle

We exist between lighting and thunder. You are illuminated by the light  and woken up by the thunder. There is no foundation familiar that you have counted on in the past to make you feel safe.   There is no way you could have planned for a change like this that is nothing less than transformation. The timing of this present situation where heart meets soul is so dynamic and clear that the hope you had lost has returned and stands before you and opens to the heart of the matter. The lingering doubts are lies that the ego is throwing at you like poison darts, but they have no effect. You have become tempered by the suffering and are able to quell the fears with the antidote of risk. Risk will set you free. You are returning to the knowing of why you have incarnated at this moment in time and an aspect of your life’s purpose is being revealed.

 

You are now in the sacred geometry of the grand alchemical design.Your are now in the process of your own sacred mission in your tribe, community and in all your relationships…..there is great power to be had to effect change for the better and greater good starting with you.. It is on this personal journey where love and abundance arrive on time so you can serve your and the greater good of Gaia and all sentient beings.

You have been met by spirit, have no doubt, and it has ignited a fire in the heart. You have been close to this awakening before, but the circumstances were not fortuitous, they were dangerous. You flirted with the danger and were burned and then hid your trust and your true heart from view. This time the bridge to what you thought was safety, is burning and you can feel the heat. If you try to turn back you may get to an aspect of freedoam, but you will be scarred at the very place you want liberation, the place of love and your true purpose.This present time is an omen shining so bright you are illuminated and seen, finally seen. You are feeling the power of love of self, which opens to the knowing of your purpose and will open to your allowing yourself to be loved.  You need no special gifts to see yourself in the light of truth because your light, Li, is doubled at this time. You can see and feel everything clearly now. Trust what you see and trust what you feel, it is real. Affirm that you will destroy old, negative patterns, and when you do they will no longer have any power over you. You will be released to revel in a new freedom of thought, feeling, spirit, and loving light.You have worked and worried hard on this last leg of the journey. Now use every tool you have gained and held in your virtual and very real medicine bag, the place where you keep your power totems. Using these tools of spirit, examine your habitual, patterned behavior and change your way of thinking. Change the words from the past playing in your head, the words that stopped you from loving and from being loved. Convert the negative to the positive; this is the gift of the human process. You are in the mode of learning to receive, learning that receiving does not hurt, it inspires. Embrace and rededicate what works, but destroy and burn what doesn’t, and be ruthless about it.

You are moving into the space of making the alchemical mix of true love and your true purpose. Once it is found and recognized, it will need tending, like the fire in your belly and heart. What will allow you to cultivate this loving light are diligence, dignity, kindness, grace, honesty, fearlessness, and compassion.

Integrity and compassion will open the doorway to trust, to accepting your greatness and strength. Using the proper fuel will allow you to create a fire that can spread clarity to your tribe and family who also yearn for the light. Be assured that you are the one—and at this time the only one—who can deliver this light in all its fullness. By increasing the light by using the proper fuels, the intensity of the flames cause no damage; it becomes a healing light, the light of love, creativity, health, and passion.

You will find that along with old ways and preprogrammed behaviors you will be leaving the worn-out and painful alliances of family, friends, and associates, breaking the unsaid contracts that have bound you to old ways, the ways that did not leave room for you to remember your truth. You will again find the beauty of what was etched in the original canvas of your heart, the memory of who you truly are and for what purpose you came to Earth at this time. Joyous spirit now just needs an invitation to dance, not an insistence but a graceful poetic invitation. Your spirit companions have been waiting just off stage for you to make the move…now make it, shake loose the fear for there can be no failure in this dance, all you have to do is….do it. You will not dance alone.

The feeling that is stirring within you is the power that allows you to remember who you truly are in all your magnificence as you step out from behind the veils in your glorious garb of light for all to see. You are at last safe! Enjoy the ride and bring a friend, a child, a lover. Recognize the loving beings of spirit that have been standing with you, waiting for you to step forward into the light of truth, beauty, and goodness.

Have no fear—he, she or the offer at hand is an omen, a good omen. The image of a clinging fire is represented in the original ideograms that comprise Li. It is a fire that clings to the heart and makes way for the new as it burns away old doubts, beliefs, and patterns that have kept you in bondage for a lifetime. Beliefs formed in childhood and ingrained societal patterns are the fuel for the fire that illuminates the jewels of life that have been shadowed by doubt and shame.

All is in the right place at the right time…. look with a discerning eye at where you sit or stand. This is the right place.

The unexpected is here, bringing together what belongs together.

Give it all of your heart, body, and soul.

Be the love you desire and that you will receive. This is the magical inner alchemy you have been preparing for.

This is Lana.  I have folded thousands of cranes for 30+ years and have imbued them with healing energies and left them for others as prayers for peace and blessings.  My expression of spreading the Aloha Spirit to anyone and everyone.  For many years while commuting on the Vallejo Ferry to and from San Francisco, I  folded and left cranes for people to discover and take away with them … I have left cranes at the various places I visited throughout my day.  Every December, I would use specially made beautiful Japanese washi papers to fold cranes and create ornaments for my Yule tree … only to give them away to friends and family during the course of the new year.  I find folding and sharing Origami cranes is a willful way to connect myself with those around me and the spirit of mystery.  Gassho.

Crystals ~ Larimar

Larimar is a rare variety of blue Pectolite (silicate hydrate of calcium and sodium). No other Pectolites have the unique volcanic blue colour of Larimar, found only in the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean Sea. Though Natives of the region and their ancestors were long aware of this gemstone and used to collect them right off the beach, it first became known throughout the world in the 1970′s when the source rock formation was found upstream by a member of the Peace Corps and a mining claim was granted.

Some believe that Larimar is the blue stone with extraordinary healing properties that clairvoyant Edgar Cayce predicted would be discovered in the Caribbean where part of Ancient Atlantis could be found. For this reason, Larimar is sometimes known as Atlantis Stone or Dolphin Stone, as it is said to assist our ability to connect to and communicate with dolphins and other creatures of the sea.

Visually stunning, Larimar brings the tranquil energy of water and air to mind. It was created by volcanic activity—earth and fire—so this gem has a unique balanced energy that I feel when I tune in. It promotes inner peace, and so is very useful during periods of potentially stressful change, helping us maintain calm, soothe fear and the tendency to try to control, as well as aiding the expression of our feelings.

Larimar is well-suited to be of benefit during times of feeling over-critical of self and others, and offers us an energetic track to follow into watery bliss and acceptance of everything that is. This doesn’t mean fogging out and not striving to shift the world we live in to a more harmonious state. Quite the contrary. Larimar carries a vibration of love transcending all problems of our physical world. And that self-transformation (through nurturing love) creates change for the collective. We can do it! We are all inherently healers. To-Do Before The “Trickster Planet” Mercury Goes Direct on July 1st

With all this hoopla about Mercury Retrograde, I’m sure you’re happy that it’s coming to an end in just a few short days.

The last 3 weeks have been a bad time to start new projects, sign contracts, begin diets, adopt new habits, or even kindle new relationships… but it has been a great time for introspection.

The trick is to be open to receiving the messages this “winged messenger” planet brings during it’s retro, whisper-in-your-ear phase, but WAIT until it’s heading forward before YOU take action.

Mercury goes direct on July 1st but before you go nuts cutting new deals or starting new flings, there are a few things you MUST do to make sure your loose ends are tied up, “i”s dotted, and “t”s crossed.


What loose ends do I want to tie up before the “Winged Messenger” goes direct on July 1st?

As you probably know already, Mercury appears to go backwards in the sky about 3 times annually. And when it does, this is the very best time for you to “RE”…

Traditionally, a Mercury retrograde is not the time to start new projects, sign contracts, begin diets, new habits or even relationships.

But what about when it stations direct? You want to be sure your loose ends are tied up, your contracts and agreements have been gone through with a fine-tooth comb, all your “i”s have been dotted, and all your “T”s crossed. Why is this so important?

 

Insights for New Directions

The down side of a tough Mercury retrograde period includes things like: mis-communication, buggy technology, missed appointments and frustrating gaffs. But the good side of it can include hints, nudges, insights or straight-up messages about a direction you should turn in or a new project you may want to take on.

The trick, of course, is to receive the message from the “winged messenger” during his retro, whisper-in-your-ear phase, but WAIT until he’s heading forward before YOU take action.

And that my friends, is why tying up loose ends now is your best bet for making the most of the months ahead.


What’s Your Vision Now?

So take a moment today (or 2 or 3) to give some thought to the incoming “messages” you may have received these past few weeks. What new ideas or inspirations have come to you? (Especially if they came to you out of frustrating, Mercury retrograde circumstances!) Write them down!

Then ask yourself:  “What do I need to do in order to ‘clear the deck’ and start taking action on this vision once Mercury goes direct?”

This is your clue to new, more inspired direction, and action!

Get clear on this and you’ll understand the true point and purpose of those thrice-annual retro-phases of that quick little planet we call Mercury

 

MANIFESTATION EXERCISE ~ GETTING TO “YES ” — DAY 1 of 28 DAYS ~ for June 30, 2014

AHO! All My Brothers, Sisters and Relations …

From our friend, Robert Whiteowl — Every morning for the next two weeks (14 days), the first thing you say out loud is “YES” (three times)”. This is a positive affirmation you begin your days with. It will draw anything that resonates with a “YES” resonance to you in all aspects of your life — family, finance, health, romance, social, whatever. Two weeks (14 days) is an honest try.

On Day 15, after the 14 days of saying “YES” every morning, say “YES” in the evening before you go to sleep. Say “YES” out loud in normal voice, then in a softer voice, then think it inside your mind. In effect, the first thing your brain tells your mind at night is a positive affirmation, and the first thing your mind tells your brain as it begins its day is a positive affirmation.

Recipe ~ Vegan Yakisoba

Lana made this dish for her parents and housemates, and it was a HIT!

Do you know what we really like?  Soba noodles. And Japanese food. And putting cabbage in things.

Cabbage is so underrated.

We are also not very fast at julienning carrots, and they’re most certainly not the most evenly-cut thing we’ve ever produced, but we really like how everything is long and skinny in this dish. Normally we would be carrot coins all the way!

We like to keep this pretty simple, but it can be doctored to your liking.  Lana has added Fry’s chicken-style strips to the one in the picture here, but we didn’t like them and picked them out.  We bet it would be better with tofu, and we can’t believe we just said that.  The Vegan chickin strips work great; so does the Vegan “beef” strips, so try it and enjoy.  Anyway, here’s a basic recipe to get you started:

Serves 4

Ingredients:
soba noodles
2 carrots, julienned
1/2 head cabbage, sliced thinly
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 green onions/scallions
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 tbs sambal oelek or other chili
1 tbs sugar
toasted sesame seeds

Directions:
1. Saute the carrots, cabbage, garlic and light-green part of green onion/scallion over medium heat 5 minutes or until soft and beginning to brown.


2. Meanwhile, cook your soba noodles in boiling water 2 minutes, then drain and refresh.


3. Add noodles to veggies, turn heat down and add combined soy, chili and sugar.


4. Turn up to re-heat without boiling the crap out of your sauce, and serve topped with toasted sesame seeds.
If using tofu or other chicken substitute, cook them before the veg, set aside and add to the pan again when you add the noodles.
